Guest Lauren Hoeck on Being a Former USA Rugby Player and a Female Actuary in a Male-Dominated Field What You Should've Been Taught

    • Self-Improvement

Lauren Hoeck and I have known each other for years, both as friends and from our time spent playing on Club, Territorial, and National Rugby teams together. Lauren's is so many things, but to name a few, she's a former USA rugby player, a brilliant actuary, and a lifelong learner.

On the rugby front, Lauren earned 3rd place in the 2009 Women’s Rugby Sevens World Cup in Dubai, UAE, as well as served as the Team Captain from 2010-2011. She was also awarded the prestigious honor of being named the 2010 Women’s Rugby 7s Player of Year by Rugby Magazine.

On the professional front, she is a Senior Consulting Actuary at WTW (Willis Towers Watson), a leading actuarial firm in the greater Washington, DC, area. As a gay woman and an LGBTQ+ advocate, she also leads the Washington, DC, "Out @ WTW Inclusion Network", which promotes inclusion and diversity within the her company and their broader workplace.

In today's interview, we explore all of these topics, including her lessons learned as a Former USA Rugby player and a woman who is crushing it in a male dominated field.

Enjoy!
