Hansel and Gretel

Hansel and Gretel is a dark fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm about two siblings abandoned in the forest by their impoverished parents. The first time, Hansel cleverly leaves a trail of white pebbles to find their way home. When famine strikes again, they're left even deeper in the woods—but this time, Hansel drops breadcrumbs, which birds eat. Lost and starving, the children discover a magical house made of candy. An old woman invites them inside, but she turns out to be a witch who plans to fatten Hansel and eat him. Gretel outsmarts the witch by pushing her into the oven, freeing her brother. The siblings find treasure in the witch’s house and make their way home. Their cruel stepmother has died, and their father welcomes them with joy. With the riches they’ve brought, they all live happily ever after.
