In this session, Swami Satyananda introduces the Hanuman Puja and explains the subtle meaning of Hanuman and his Mantra. After the introduction, Swamiji explains
the meaning of some of the preliminary mantras. Hanuman was the perfect servant and devotee of Ram. As Christ said, “The greatest among you will be the servant.” Ram had to build
a bridge in order to cross the ocean to Lanka, but brave Hanuman, saying the name of Ram with full faith and devotion, was able to jump into the sky and fly across the waters.
Swami Satyananda Saraswati continues his class on Hanuman Puja, showing us how to put together an intermediate Puja. The class begins with a discussion of Sankalpa,
the spiritual resolve to perform the worship. Swamiji explains the invocations of merit as well as the worship of Ganesh and the Guru. The beautiful song in praise of the Guru,
Bhava Sagara, is also explained.
This is the third session in this Hanuman Puja series. The class includes Hanuman’s Gayatri Mantra, meditation verses, and a short explanation of the essential
ingredients for constructing the worship of any God or Goddess. After the verses invoking Hanuman, Swamiji begins the system for establishing the Kalasha, the pot. He also tells
the story of Narad Muni cursing Vishnu and Shiva, as well as the story of Gautum Muni and the Brahmans.
In this fourth class, Swamiji explains the complete system for Kalasha Sthapana, the establishment of the pot. He reviews the meanings
of the offerings of the Puja, how to establish life within the pot, and how to perform a short Puja for Shiva. Swamiji also answers many questions from devotees in relation to Prana
In this podcast, Swamiji discusses the worship of Durga and Vishnu as part of the Puja for the five primary deities of Hindu Dharma. He
explains the Nine Durgas and the Argala Stotram, The Praise Which Unfastens the Bolt. At the end of the class Swamiji gives a beautiful explanation of Lakshman, Sita, Ram and the
other characters of the Ramayan.
This is the sixth class on Hanuman Puja where Swamiji discusses the Hanuman Chalisa and the Bajaranga Bana. Both are famous songs in praise of Hanuman. He also talks
about the Pacha Pacha Vidya in relation to the Bajaranga Bana and Aparajita Stotram. The Pacha Pacha Vidyas use sounds of alliteration to move beyond intellectual meanings, and to
induce an attitude of intuitive understanding.
