Heather Solves Everything - Intuitive Eating Tips for Thanksgiving Heather Solves Everything - Season 5: Mindful Eating

    • Mental Health

It’s Thanksgiving week! And that means we’re officially in a time of year that I like to call Eating Season.

And here at Heather Solves Everything, all of my coaching calls this week have been about intuitive eating, and how to get through the holidays without losing control around food.

So I decided to put together a special episode just about that, and to offer up five things to think about as you approach the Thanksgiving table.

The point of these five tips is to help you turn down the urgency and turn up the trust during the holidays. I want you to enjoy the scents and flavors of the season with your arms and hearts open wide, not feeling like you can only enjoy them within a controlled setting, or that there are some foods that you can’t have, or that you have to do some kind of penance for eating them. I hope that your Thanksgiving is full of blessings, including a feeling of partnership with yourself so you can relax, exhale, connect with your body, and make your first bite the best one.

Intuitive eating is something that takes some time to learn and master, so don’t expect yourself to flip a switch and undo a lifetime of learned food rituals and self talk. And, if you’d like to learn more about intuitive eating, I’ll be offering a class that begins in January. It’s called Am I Hungry, and all of the tips today came from the class. I’ll be sharing more information about it on my website, HeatherSolvesEverything.com.
