Heidi Le: Resource for Transformation

In this episode, Jeff and Heidi discuss:
Her experience as a family member of an individual struggling with addiction and her own journey as a recovering co-dependent individual. There is no one answer, it may be an environment change, new relationships, a learning of new skills, or something else. Finding a safe community where you can be open about your journey. How her music has helped her through her journey and her recovery.
Key Takeaways:
Just changing your environment and relationships does not change who you are and the ways that you may be struggling. When you reach a fork in your life, you get to choose - both paths are going to be painful, are you going to have the pain of getting stuck or the pain of getting well? Isolation feeds addiction, anxiety, depression, and all the other dark things. Community can help to counteract that darkness. If what you’re doing now isn’t working, don’t be afraid to try something new. The first group or meeting or counselor may not be the right fit, but just keep trying.  Nobody is too far gone to find recovery and find healing.

"It’s a powerful thing to be able to take a break or move away from a dysfunctional environment, but that’s rarely the only solution. We still have to do our internal work to get well. Without our internal work to really get well from the inside, we tend, as humans, to recreate what feels familiar." — Heidi Le
