It's Not Always a Time to Grow or Heal
Healing and striving for abundance are not meant to be 24/7 activities. Yet knowing you're not meant to work on self-improvement constantly and putting this knowledge into action often feels like oil and water; they don't mix well. One reason is that we tend to only focus on two seasons in our life; a season of productivity (sow) and a season where we enjoy the rewards of our labor (harvesting). But these aren’t the only seasons in our lives.
Today we're discussing the season of not pushing yourself to strive to achieve, which is often neglected. This is a season where you're not focused on your healing or learning and instead simply allowing your mind and body to rest. I know rest feels like such a dirty word in American culture. But it is a season just as important as healing, growing, and abundance, and it's time to give it some attention during today's mental vacay.
Seeking Advice From Yourself
No one knows you better than you. That's why the best advice comes from within rather than externally. It sounds like a no-brainer, but when you add a lack of self-trust to the mix, there's an entanglement. The need for seeking reassurance may be a subconscious one that you may not even recognize as a lack of self-trust—for example, constantly complaining to your BFF or asking others for advice about every aspect of your life. It can also look like a heavy focus on checking your horoscope or seeking advice from a spiritual healer. It seems so normal and innocent, but these are both acts of us looking externally for reassurance of our emotions and life decisions.
I recently noticed that I've been tapping within and asking myself for advice, which feels pretty good. In today's episode, I share my personal journey and an exercise to help getting advice from yourself become your go-to method. There's nothing wrong with getting advice from others or working with healers to help guide you on your healing journey. The episode is a chance to reflect on self-trust, how you're using your healing tools, and to help you maximize the knowledge and power that lies within you. The answers to all you need are within you, it's a matter of discovering how to trust.
Uncomfortable Side of Change
'Tis the season for leveling up. It’s a time for people to make resolutions to eat better, exercise more, save money, and create healthy boundaries. All these things have one thing in common — CHANGE! There is an assumption that change is easy. All you need to do is decide, and poof, you can make any changes in your life. But what about the uncomfortable side of change? The part that doesn't feel good. It’s time to bring some awareness to the darker side of change.
This episode is not intended to scare you from making changes. On the contrary, it is to help you become better equipped to get through the uncomfortable side of change, so you don’t give up. When you can get comfortable with being uncomfortable while shifting your habits, it will help you get to your desired goal. So let’s get cozy with being uncomfortable in this season of leveling up!
Hella Relax Pt. 5: Reiki Healing Session
This Reiki healing is the final episode in our 5-part Hella Relax series. I couldn't think of a better way to start a new year than to focus on relaxing the mind and body. You can listen to this as a guided meditation, have it playing in the background while you work, or listen to it whenever you need to hella relax. You may feel tingling or other sensations in your body, which is normal. And if you feel nothing, that's normal too as Reiki also works on the subconscious level. I encourage you to drink plenty of water after listening to this episode. Also, things may or may not come up emotionally. This is not a time to judge but a space to simply observe and be present. Enjoy!
Hella Relax Podcast Series: All you need to do is a quick Google search to discover thousands are struggling with ways to relax. This 5-part series will discuss why you can’t relax, how many are trying to like the wrong way and how it’s hurting them, tips for different ways to relax, and we’ll end with a beautiful meditation to ease the mind and body into deep relaxation.
Hella Relax Pt. 4: Ancient Relaxation Method That's Become Popular Again
Many ancient healing methods for relaxation are dismissed nowadays. Instead, we run to pills, a bottle of wine, or the latest wellness fad when we need to relax. My dad always said, "If it's not broken, don't try to fix it." Reiki is an ancient healing technique many cultures have used for years. In today's episode, I discuss some of the benefits of Reiki. One of the most important benefits of using Reiki is that it provides deep relaxation.
I hella love to use Reiki when I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed. It's a simple but impactful healing method suitable for everyone. Even my cousin's little girl is using Reiki for self-healing! Don't miss next week's episode for a taste of Reiki!

Suicide, Let's Talk About It!
With the recent suicide of Stephen “Twitch” Boss, I knew it was time to have this chat. Behind that confident smile can be someone struggling to keep it together. I know this personally as someone who attempted to commit suicide more than once.
There isn’t a stereotypical look for someone thinking about suicide. The person next to you in line or your best friend can be secretly struggling. Surviving suicide is one of the hardest things I’ve done. The shame and guilt alone made me wish I didn’t make it. But I survived the suicide attempts and how people treated me afterward.
Today I want to shine a light on suicide, especially in the Black community, where there’s this stigma around mental health and suicide. It’s time to remove this need to “perform” and “be” to heal. If you’re having suicidal thoughts, I encourage you to call 988 for help. I pray this episode will help us have an honest conversation about suicide, why someone would want to end their life, and resources if money is a barrier to getting help.
Love love this podcast. Topics are always on time. I love how practical the tips are. It helps me feel like taking action. And I love how casual the conversations are. It feels like I’m sitting and chatting with a girlfriend....
Jaw dropping podcast!
I just listened to your most recent episode about journaling and I love how you broke down the significance of journaling. I currently journal but I’m always looking for ways to be better! This is a self care routine that I want to get better at. This podcast was right on time! Can’t wait for the next episode.
