HerStory Episode 28: Jessica Chalk from For Keeps Flower Preservation HerStory

    • Business

Episode 28 - Join Kylie King, founder of Australian Ladies in Business Initiative as she talks to Jessica Chalk of For Keeps Flower Preservation.

Jessica is a second-generation floral preservationist, starting 18 years ago while at school. Adamant she was never going to work long term in the family business while assisting consultants with various tasks, Jessica became enthralled by the love stories and the support that For Keeps provided to families during challenging times. It was only a short time until her part-time job transformed into a full-time passion. Rather than pursuing her Uni degree, she became deeply involved in flower preservation and continuing her mother's legacy.

In 2016, Jessica's mother was diagnosed with dementia, and Jessica formally took over running the business and became a full-time carer for her mother. In 2018, Jessica married the love of her life, and they welcomed their baby girl into the world in 2021. Despite these roles, Jessica's heart is deeply rooted in her business, For Keeps Flower Preservation. Jessica is driven by a profound love for flowers and a sincere desire to assist others.

Flowers, being a universal love language, possess the unique ability to convey emotions when words fall short. Whether it's preserving a wedding bouquet, commemorating the joy of a new birth, or expressing sentiments of congratulations or condolences, each bloom carries a distinctive story waiting to be told. Jessica sees herself as the keeper of these moments, responsible for listening to families' stories and preserving their memories.
