The Voice X HERstory Podcast for Slice Radio

We're one sleep away from a referendum, that is a massive moment in Australia’s history. The Voice referendum is the result of the Uluru Statement from the Heart and would advise parliament and government on matters affecting Indigenous communities. It's to switch politics on its head with communities to advise on issues rather than the other way around.

What is impressive is that hundreds of prolific Aussie musicians have come out in suppoprt of voting yes for the Voice.

Music provides a sense of connection, support and understanding during the everyday, difficult and defining moments. It can heal and motivate. It provides community. It has been the soundtrack to many big moments in Australia’s history and is now history is calling in the upcoming referendum.

    Timberlina X HERstory Podcast

    Timberlina X HERstory Podcast

Drag queen Timberlina is based in Newcastle Australia. With a glittery rainbow of a personality she is an amazing educator and advocate of the LGBTIQA+ community.
I chat with Tim Jackson - the man behind the mayhem - about his career as a First Nations drag queen who devotes his work to education for children despite controversy and his efforts to educate in regional NSW with rainbow story time, drag cabaret, trivia and bingo.
Crowned Miss Photogenic in this year’s Miss First Nation Supreme Queen 2023, Timberlina has is all: she's a marriage celebrant, MC, presenter, host and all-round entertainer.
Tim is still amazed by how far he’s come from after growing up in country NSW. Let's get into it!

    Emma Tomlinson x HERstory Podcast

    Emma Tomlinson x HERstory Podcast

Emma Tomlinson is an  Australian musician who lives with high functioning autism. She uses her music as a way to continue her advocacy and education about life on the spectrum.

We talk about her music and work in the community as an Autism Queensland ambassador.

All music on this episode also explores autism, as I feel it’s an important conversation. All disabilities are not visible. Up to 90 per cent of the 4.4 million Australians living with disability are living with an invisible disability.

Thank you Emma for your time.
