    The third of the New Testament's four canonical Gospels is Luke. It tells of the origins, birth, ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus. The author is anonymous but the traditional view that Luke the Evangelist was the companion of Paul is still put forward. The most probable date for its composition is around AD 80–110, and there is evidence that it was still being revised well into the 2nd century.     John Hawkins was an Elizabethan shipbuilder, naval administrator and commander, merchant, navigator, privateer and slave trader. One of the foremost seamen of 16th-century England, he was the chief architect of the Elizabethan navy and was one of the many Buccaneers that roamed the shores of North America on behalf of Queen Elizabeth the First in the 1560s. Martin Frobisher was an Elizabethan seaman, adventurer, explorer and Buccaneer who made three voyages (1576-77-78) to the New World looking for the Northwest Passage to Asia. His initial voyage to Northern Canada was the first well-documented contact between Europeans and Inuit, formally known as Eskimo.     In the Gospel of Mark (6:4), Jesus says, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household". Jesus said this in Nazareth, where he was rejected by his family and neighbors. The people of his home town knew Jesus well, but they didn't believe who he was. They called him "the son of Mary" to reject his virgin birth and Messianic claims. Jesus was unable to perform miracles in Nazareth because of their lack of faith.     The first book of the New Testament of the Bible and one of the three synoptic Gospels. Matthew tells how Israel's messiah (Christ), Jesus, comes to his people (the Jews) but is rejected by them and how, after his resurrection, he sends the disciples to the gentiles instead. Matthew wishes to emphasize that the Jewish tradition should not be lost in a church that was increasingly becoming gentile. The gospel reflects the struggles and conflicts between the evangelist's community and the other Jews, particularly with its sharp criticism of the scribes and Pharisees with the position that through their rejection of Christ, the Kingdom of Heaven has been taken away from them and given instead to the church. The gospel is anonymous. Traditionally attributed to the Apostle Matthew, the predominant scholarly view is that it was written in the last quarter of the first century by an anonymous Jew familiar with technical legal aspects of scripture. Most scholars think Matthew used the Gospel of Mark and the hypothetical sayings Gospel Q (which consists of the material Matthew shares in common with Luke) and is the product of the second generation of the Christian movement, though it draws on the memory of the first generation of the disciples of Jesus.     This episode concludes the recounting of my excursion to Southern England in search of the glorious era of Tudor England that helped shape the early exploration and colonization of the American Continent. Queen Elizabeth was crowned and buried in 1603 at Westminster Abbey, a large twin-towered Gothic church with a vast interior. Founded over a millennium ago, it is one of the United Kingdom’s most notable religious buildings and the traditional place of coronation and burial site for English and, later, British monarchs. Many royal marriages and national commemorative events have also been held within its walls.
