Because God's design for winning in marriage is a lifelong exercise in losing… Marriage, at its best, is a picture of Christ and His church. Jesus died for the Church, surrendered, deferred, put us above himself. And our response in loving him back is to die to ourselves, to yield authority in our lives to him, even if it’s unnatural and difficult. Marriage gives us a glimpse of that.
