    Home Alone (1990)

    Home Alone (1990)

We've arrived at Christmas Eve, and we've arrived at the ultimate destination for this Rewind miniseries, 1990's Home Alone. This is the beginning of the best Christmas movie franchise in existence, even if there are only a small handful of good movies in the bunch.

We tried to do this great movie justice, and along the way we tangent into The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Ren & Stimpy, Don Henley and growing up in the hood.

    Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)

Kevin McCallister has been separated from his family for the second year in a row (but really, the movies came out 2 years apart). This time Kevin winds up in a magical land beyond the seven levels of the candy cane forest, past the castle of the abominable snowman, past the sea of swirly, twirly gumdrops and through the Lincoln Tunnel: New York City!

Fortunately Kevin is equipped with a perfect device for a lil stinker, a Talkboy with a voice changer. And of course, because he's the eternally resourceful Kevin McCallister, he is able to use this device to book a suite at the world-renowned Plaza Hotel, New York's most exciting hotel experience. He's also able to record hard evidence on the crimes of the escaped convicts, Harry and Marv, now calling themselves The Sticky Bandits.

This ep is packed with lots of fun 1992 talk, and we get into Disney's The Jungle Book, getting a Sega Genesis for Christmas, hockey, school cafeteria lunches, Sunkist vs. Fanta Orange soda, finding out the truth about the Big Guy in Red, and lots more!

    Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.

Home Alone: The Bad Sequels (3-5)

Home Alone: The Bad Sequels (3-5)

We couldn't picture watching all 3 of these bad Home Alone sequels, and we couldn't imagine making you listen to 3 episodes worth of that. So we each watched one of them, and sum them up for you in our own way in this one compact ep. You don't have to watch these movies, unless you're some sort of masochist who hates spoilers for irrelevant movies.

Mike watched 2012's Home Alone: The Holiday Heist. It has a haunted house/mobster subplot, a hidden speakeasy, and made Mike wanna drink.

Jake watched what legitimately sounds like the worst idea for a Home Alone movie ever, with 2002's Home Alone 4.

Adam watched 1997's Home Alone 3, and, though I forgot to mention it in the episode, one of the biggest letdowns was that the kid never used the yellow Sega Game Gear he had hanging from his utility belt on the movie poster. False advertising. Deal Breaker. Game over.

We also tangent about sleeping on the floor, cold showers, and The Office.

    Home Sweet Home Alone (2021)

    Home Sweet Home Alone (2021)

Welcome to December, welcome to our new Rewind miniseries! We are covering the Home Alone franchise of Christmas movies, as only we do: in reverse! This is 199? Presents Home Alone Rewind.

In this, the first ep of the series, we are discussing 2021's direct-to-streaming-on-Disney-Plus "legacy sequel," Home Sweet Home Alone.

Ellie Kemper and Rob DeLaney are trying to get their hands on a $200,000 ugly little boy to sell to an old lady to save their house. Of course, they know they're talking about a porcelain doll, but the kid, Max, thinks they want to kidnap him. So he creates a plan to defend himself and his McMansion.

Seltzer water / club soda fans welcome

Great to listen to while you’re making omelettes. There are certain people who write bad reviews filled with crap and they need to go listen to Don Henley or some early 2000s bull honkey and shut up. I guess they’re rather listen to old people sit around and literally fart. Screw that guy. So crack open a club soda and get lost in these charts from the 90s!

Give the ladies some Céline!!

I look forward to every new episode of this podcast. I’ve been loving the artist highlights they’ve been doing lately with Nirvana and Tom Petty. I keep waiting for some 90’s divas to come up like Celine Dion, Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey. That’s what the mid-90’s was all about for me and my three sisters.

This great music deserves a better podcast.

It might help to have hosts who weren’t children in the 90s. I listened to the first episode and all tech problems aside it was awful. They literary hadn’t heard of more than half the songs and had nothing interesting to say about any of them. Apparently it’s supposed to be a comedy podcast as well, huh well okay. Skip it and listen to Rock Solid instead.
