The Occulted Body, Daimonic Space + the Sacred In-Between / Alkistis Dimech home—body podcast

    • Spirituality

"We can’t think in this finite way, in this defeatist way. Even if everything is ending…We can’t but bring joy and beauty into the world." _Alkistis Dimech

Alkistis Dimech is a dancer, choreographer, a writer and also a publisher. She and her partner run a publishing company called Scarlet Imprint where they print works on the esoteric and occult. I adored this conversation and all the deep, dark radiance that comes out of it. It felt very appropriate for this Scorpio full moon. We talk about dance, exploring the daimonic space, what it means to interact with what she calls the “occulted body”, and again re-orienting ourselves to a different narrative of time.

WE DISCUSS
How her magic practice and dance practice intersectThe “occulted body” and her dissatisfaction with many of the dualistic ideas between mind, body and “energetic” bodyThe body as a way to re-learn and re-create language Unifying the masculine and feminine energies into a hermaphroditic magicWhy witchcraft needs to be re-wildedThe role of the daimon and connecting with the sacred in-betweenConnective tissue + divinationEmbracing an erotic eschatologyConnecting to cyclical time as a rejection of finalityHow life desires life on a cellular levelThe creative act as something that cannot be destroyed
