Hosts of Eden is a modern radio drama, written and performed by Jay Mcfarland. Season 1's 11-part fictional podcast serial was just the beginning of the cliff-hanger science fiction fun. Season 2 drops March 5. While Marian and Mason are trying to adjust to their new role as guardians of the Genesis device, the nation is faced with a new threat. Someone or something is able to jump from one body to the next, allowing them to infiltrate high-security military installations and leaving a trail of bodies behind. No one knows what they are looking for or how to stop them. Having no other options, the President of the United States seeks Marian’s help with the hope that she can use her newfound abilities to track down this elusive enemy. Marian reluctantly agrees and is then on a path that eventually causes her to question whether or not the Hosts of Eden are the only ones who want the bodies of mankind.

Exciting

I like the premise and I love audio drama with a sci-fi bent! Keep up the good work!

Don’t read from an outline

As others have said, it really is a great premise, but is so poorly read. To me it was like he was giving the “spark notes” version of the story, or like a friend telling someone about the basis of their favorite book. Meh. I tried.

Good, not great

Like other reviewers, I felt this was delivered very unpolished. Don’t get me wrong, I blasted thru season 1 last year and when season 2 hit I blasted thru it. There are times when Jay stumbles over his words. It feels he is reading an outline and pitching a story, rather than reading a final product. The concept is great, but there is an odd fixation on little girls needing to pee in both seasons. There are some eye rolling parts where an obvious solution is literally delivered to the protagonists and they don’t get it until it is painfully unfolded before them. The story is fun and seems to have similar concepts as Stephanie Meyers’ The Host. Season 2 should have been more polished than season 1 and it would have been wise to take some extra time before releasing. Overall, it is a fun listen.
