Please listen!

A wonderful and engaging resource for families of gender non-conforming children, Trans-allies and anyone open to learning more about an experience they may be unfamiliar or even uncomfortable with. Thank you Marlo Mack for putting yourself and your daughter’s journey out there!

except for a racist comment

I love the little girl, and I know she will grow up to be a charismatic, outgoing and lovable woman. She has that little kid innocence and intelligence that makes her even more interesting to listen to than the mother. The mother is very good at explaining what it’s like to be a parent of a transgender child. She doesn’t pretend to be a perfect mother who never did anything wrong. She is honest and do not worry about the audio quality, every word is spoken clearly. I look forward to future episodes! It is podcast I recommend to anyone, not just parents of LGBTQ+, spouses or people who identify as LGBTQ+. The only one thing I found that bothered me was a comment made by the mother in the episode before the first school episode. The mother described her daughter as “a privileged white girl.....those types of things would not happen to her.....I could pay for hormone treatments.” The thing is that there are non white transgender people, and not everyone is “white” or “privileged”. I have a very good friend who is saving up for breast removal surgery, penny by penny. They have been saving for a year and they only have about $100. Not everyone can afford treatments such as hormones or surgeries. Additionally, out of all the people, I find it hard to believe that she would of made such a racist comment. I have been listing to this podcast with my friends, and one of them is a black woman named Julie. She is not from a wealthy family and is a single mom with a transgender daughter. When the mother was talking about how her daughter wouldn’t get attacked because she was white. This upset all of us, most of all Julie. We had to turn it off.Out of all people, I would never have expected a comment like this one from a seemingly compassionate woman. Other than that, the daughter is wonderful! But I don’t like having white people crap shoved down our throat.
