How Do You Create a Ripple Effect? A lot of things are outside our control, especially in business and nonprofit work.

Instead of lamenting those obstacles, let's take a look at what we CAN control - such as our attitudes, reactions, mindset toward challenges, and how we treat others.

If it's true that we become like the 5 people we're around the most, I have a few questions for you to ponder:
Who are you hanging around? Who is hanging around you? Are you someone others want to become like? You can influence change in your circles, and today we're going to discuss how.

Becoming a Nonprofit Go-Giver

In this episode I'm talking with bestselling author and speaker Bob Burg about what it means to become a go-giver, especially in the context of nonprofit work.

Bob is every bit as genuine and kind in person as he sounds in the interview. He shares tremendous wisdom and encouragement for nonprofit leaders. Bob understands that nonprofit work can feel like an uphill journey sometimes, which is why he shared,“Things that get built big typically don’t happen fast. They happen with consistent, persistent work.”

Bob also compares nonprofit fundraising to the sales process. However, he breaks it down into a non-intimidating way of building relationships. He urges us to care about the other person and take a genuine interest in their lives, saying “The person who is the donor isn’t doing it because you need the donations to keep your doors open. They’re doing it because they have their own unique reason for donating.”

We need to dig deep and get to know the person for who they are, not what they might give.

This episode is full of go-giving gold, so I strongly recommend you give it a listen!

Meet Bob Burg, Author and Hall of Fame Keynote Speaker For over 30 years Bob Burg has been successfully showing entrepreneurs, leaders, and sales professionals how to communicate their value and accelerate their referral business.

Although for years he was best known for his sales classic Endless Referrals, it’s his business parable, The Go-Giver, coauthored with John David Mann, that has created a worldwide movement.

While part of a four-book series, The Go-Giver itself has sold more than one million copies and been translated into 30 languages. It was rated #10 on Inc. Magazine’s list of The Most Motivational Books Ever Written, and was on HubSpot’s 20 Most Highly Rated Sales Books of All Time.

Bob is an advocate, supporter and defender of the Free Enterprise system, believing that the amount of money one makes is directly proportional to how many people they serve.

He is also an unapologetic animal fanatic and served on the Board of Directors of Furry Friends Adoption & Clinic in his town of Jupiter, Florida.

Listen to the episode for inspiration and practical advice on how you, too, can become a go-giver.
