Stour Trust founder and social justice campaigner Juliet Can talks to Women of the Wick about her journey from Uganda to the UK at the age of 10, what it taught to her about kindness, and how to create sustainable change—that lasts beyond our lifetime.
Juliet Can have been a social justice campaigner for over 15 years. Last year, Stour Trust secured a 149-year long lease of 'The Vogue' in Hackney Wick on a peppercorn rent in providing it with a stable footing until 2168.

Tamara Al-Mashouk is a London-based Arab artist. Through multi-channel video, performance, and architectural installation, her work explores the epigenetics of place and the movement of people across societal and geographic borders with particular focus on the intersectional body. Tamara's work engages with decolonial feminisms and explores resistance as a site of potential. ⠀

Cycling from London to Glasgow to End FGM 🚴‍♀️✊ Yes! Mabel Evans is the co-founder of The Vavengers, a UK-based charity that uses arts to tackle FGM, Female Genital Mutilation. Mabel has set herself an ambitious goal: over the next two weeks, she's solo-cycling from London to Glasgow to raise £10k to support the charity’s work and raise awareness about Female Genital Mutilation across the UK. Did I mention this is her first time cycling outside London?

Aida Wilde is an Iranian born, London based printmaker, visual artist and educator. Her outdoor installations have been shown at Glastonbury Festival, Adblock & Croydon Rise Festival, among others. Currently showing Art Made During the Lockdown in an exhibition disCONNECT, an international collaborative project between Schoeni Project and Hong Kong Walls. 
Her HASHTAG series has been used in subversive projects with Brandalism in Paris to highlight climate change in response to the COP21 Summit, as well as the global project Subvert The City, the world’s first coordinated international ad takeover.
More recently, she has been collaborating with Help Refugees UK CHOOSE LOVE campaign on a number of projects that have been exhibited in Somerset House and Saatchi Gallery. 

Sara sat down with Aida to talk about her work, passion towards a more equal world, the vanishing artist community in Hackney Wick, activism, and much much more.
