With Dr. Geneva Williams, Business and Community Leader and Motivational Speaker
Have you ever heard the saying, “Man makes plans… and God laughs”? What should we do when life throws us a curveball and our carefully planned life suddenly goes off in the wrong direction? How can we recover when our dream career is suddenly over, or a long-term relationship ends? How can we find our passion and turn that into a career that we love? Is there a way that our passion can also benefit the community? My guest today can help us to find those answers and more. Dr. Geneva Williams is the host of the very successful podcast “Ignite 2 Impact.” As the CEO of “Dr. Geneva Speaks,” she’s been recognized as one of Detroit’s Most Influential Women by Crain’s Detroit Business. Geneva is also a highly sought-after lecturer, personal motivator, and master leadership strategist who’s passionate about helping other women realize their full potential while impacting their community in a positive way.

This past year has been life-changing. So many of us were forced to give up our careers or other endeavors, but it’s important to remember this situation is just temporary. Think of it as a detour, not a dead-end. If you were forced to shut down your business or you lost a job that you love, perhaps now is the time to reimagine that dream. How can you reinvent yourself or recreate your business to a career you love even more? What are your passions and abilities? Can you find a way to turn those into a career? Never let the fear of failure hold you back. You may have to try a few different things before you find the right fit, but we learn the most from our mistakes. This is a great time to think about how we can make a positive impact on our community. Remember, every single day we have is a gift. When we reach out to help others, we help ourselves. Be fearless! Tell yourself you can do it. Smile. Have some humor in your life and remember, “And this too shall pass.” The sun will always come out tomorrow… even if only in your heart. I’m Florine Mark and that’s “Today’s Takeaway.”
