In this episode, Rolonda talks with Dr. David Campt, known as The Dialogue Guy, The Race Doctor, and as comedian Trevor Noah of The Daily Show now calls him, The White People Whisperer. Campt introduces us to his new (White) Ally Conversation Toolkit project, through which he encourages us to engage in this important, though difficult dialogue -- not only between Blacks and Whites, but. particularly between Whites and Whites who oftentimes feel extremely uncomfortable and overwhelmed when the daring and difficult discussion of race surfaces.
Dr. Campt shares specific take away techniques to help us enjoy a more open, honest, compassionate and empathetic discussion about the tough topics of race and racism in hopes of us avoiding the anger, loud, angry arguments, and distrust that often follows.
Through the course of his 25 year career as a featured presenter, Dr. David Campt (@thedialogueguy) has helped groups focus on a variety of topics including strategic planning, conflict resolution, creating more inclusive decision-making, leadership succession, cultural competence, and many others. His clients have varied widely, and have included the US military, The White House, large corporations, international organizations, foundations, governments, universities, national associations, and non-profit groups. David is in the process of completing a trilogy of books about distilling the wisdom of groups.
