Episode 13: Dear God, I'm an Atheist

Episode 13: Dear God, I'm an Atheist

Gen Z increasingly wonders if anything is there or, if there is, what? According to Pew, most Americans say it is not necessary to believe in God to be moral.

And the "Nones" – as in N-O-N-E-S - want nothing to do with organized religion. This episode is about "Nones" and whether religion can speak to them.

    Episode 11: BLM vs Police

    Episode 11: BLM vs Police

A candid conversation between a law enforcement officer and a young, activist journalist. This is an honest, at times tense conversation, and the most important podcast I’ve produced. I am grateful to Steve and Raven for agreeing to go deep over an issue that’s causing a deep rift in our country.

    Episode 8: The Blame Game

    Episode 8: The Blame Game

Millennials blame Boomers for their economic woes and the country’s cultural divide. Many Boomers refuse to say, “I’m sorry,” and wish Millennials would stop playing the blame game. My buddy, Michael Teasdale, a Loyola Marymount University student, and Sherrie Dunlevy, among the youngest of the Boomers, have an honest conversation about the generational blame game.

Thanks for listening. If you want to hear more from Sherrie Dunlevy, visit her website at https://www.sherriedunlevy.com.

Millennials and Gen Z and organized religion

Carol this most recent podcast hit a homer in for me . You picked a topic that certainly must resonate on college campuses around the country . But particularly the religious based schools . Keep up the excellent work .

Just Great!

In full transparency, I listened because I am an LMU staff member who is fascinated by generational differences. But I kept listening because the conversations are very real and relevant. This is a great podcast for anyone who interacts with other humans!

The patriotism episode is out of touch

Patriotism in the United States is about defending the American ideals. Protecting free speech, for example, isn’t about protecting the people who say bad things, it’s about protecting the liberty of everyone. Patriotism is not about serving the community, unless of course you’re a socialist/communist.

All I ever heard about at LMU was justice. Where are the conversations about liberty? What happened to “liberty and justice for all”? Where are the conversations about why the ideals of America make us different and cause people from all over the world to come here.

Somehow, people lack the ability these days to separate the ideas from the character of who says them. Ironic, considering how much LMU preaches about how all people are broken and flawed. The whole premise of systemic racism and racial injustice is flawed to its very core. The same line of reasoning fails when applied to other differences in outcomes between groups of people. For example, is it a racial injustice that Japanese Americans make more money, are more educated, and get approved for mortgage loans more frequently than white people, in spite of the fact that they were interned during WWII. Where is the intellectual honesty in universities anymore?

Thankfully some of my fantastic science professors at LMU taught me how to think, and not just how to feel.
