Congratulations on 400 Episodes
Congratulations for your 400 episodes! 400 episodes of education, prevention and healing in each and every single one. As a survivor, I am eternally grateful for the 3 of you and all you have taught me. Amazing job and here’s for 400 more! Thank you!
I Just Couldn’t Take It Anymore
First, I love Jim, and I listen to his other podcasts. While I had no previous interaction with Lisa, I had one recently, and all I can say is classic passive-aggressive personality.
I have had an interest in criminal profiling since I read John Douglass’ book, Mindhunter. I even took classes on forensic psychology until real life took over and my family required the time I was using to take those classes. When I discovered RCP, I was thrilled! Two criminal profilers for the price of one! Fantastic! I listened and anxiously waited for the next episode to drop.
However over time I began to enjoy the podcast less and less, eventually getting to the point of ultimately quitting RCP. Now we get to the real reason I quit Real Crime Profile and why I rate it so low. Laura. I don’t think I’ve ever come across a bigger misandrist than her. She blames everything wrong with law enforcement on men! Never mind the fact that so many of the serial murderers were caught by, shockingly, MEN! That her own field of study was basically invented by, you guessed it, MEN. Not to mention two very poor personal interactions I had the misfortune to have had with her. Both times she used profiling as an ad hominem to attack me as a domestic abuser! Why? For simply saying that she was the reason for me quoting RCP. How a profiler can come to that sort of conclusion from five or six sentences stating how much I liked the show, and why I quit the show. Oh well, I suppose when she is that insecure she has to attack people that simply don’t like her. Real emotionally and mentally stable (sarcasm).
Jim, I really hope you will split with from Laura soon.
Real life insights
I discovered this through Mind over Murder and am so glad I did. I went back and listened to most of the back catalog. In additon to the insight on specific cases, there are some real lessons to take away- on stalking, predators, framing how we talk about issues. I have used Jim's phrase more than once recently about red flags when another adult wants to spend more time with your children than you do. Also the information on stalking is more than helpful, it's empowering and I've referred several people who were in the "is it stalking or isn't" mode of thinking to your show. Thanks!
