    Dave Damiani is an American singer, songwriter, producer based out of Los Angeles, CA. Having started as a bartender at the famed CHARLIE O'S JAZZ CLUB in Valley Village, CA, Dave Damiani had the opportunity to work, learn and become friends with some of the best musicians on the planet. Legends like Earl Palmer, Marty Harris, Ross Tompkins, Sam Most,  Teddy Edwards, John Heard, Roy McCurdy, Frank Capp, Ernie McDaniel, Dini Clarke, Danny Grissett, George Gaffney, Mark Murphy, and Richie Cole (just to name a few) took time to mentor Dave Damiani, share stories and chord  changes. 


    Join Dave Damiani and the Mahattan Beach Chamber of Commerce for a celebration on October 21st, 2021 at the Westdrift Hotel in Manhattan Beach, CA The Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce created the Best of Manhattan Awards in 2013, with the intent of recognizing outstanding people, businesses, and philanthropic efforts in the City of Manhattan Beach.


    This year, we are returning to the stunning Westdrift Manhattan Beach Autograph Collection Hotel on Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 5:00 - 9:00 PM. We will be presenting 15 categories; 11 of the awards are open to the public for nomination/vote. In honor of the 80th anniversary of the Chamber of Commerce, we have founded a Hall of Fame Award.

    The founding recipient will be honored at the celebration on October 21, 2021. Mark your calendars; the best is yet to come!

    Our guests this morning are Ann O’Brien from El Camino College and Andrea Sala from the El Camino College Foundation.

    Ann M. O’Brien is the Executive Director of Marketing & Communications for El Camino College, whose mission is to make a positive difference in people’s lives. Ann has more than 30 years of experience in communications specializing in brand management, marketing, media relations/crisis communications, digital media, and event and fundraising support.

    Andrea Sala is the Executive Director of the El Camino College Foundation, whose mission is to develop community relationships and raise funds to support students’ success in education and life. The El Camino Foundation raises funds for scholarships, the South Bay Promise program, STEM programs, Warrior Food Pantry, and other strategic initiatives. Andrea has been in fundraising, development, marketing, and public relations for over 30 years. Prior to joining the team at El Camino College, she was the Executive Director of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Education Foundation. She has been with El Camino College for almost five years.

    This morning, Ann and Andrea will fill us in on the new programs and facilities at El Camino College.

    Clarence Wooten is a serial tech entrepreneur who creates and builds startups. Presently, he is an Entrepreneur in Residence at X (formerly known as Google X), Alphabet's moonshot factory, where he works with talented teams to create radical new technologies to solve some of the world's hardest problems.


    Clarence has a track record of success spanning back to 1999 when his debut Internet startup, ImageCafe.com, was acquired by Network Solutions/Verisign (Nasdaq: NSOL). ImageCafe became the default instant website platform used by millions of domain name purchasers. In 2010 Clarence moved to Silicon Valley from Maryland, his home state, and started a string of startups including Arrived, VentureFund.io, and Progressly, an enterprise SaaS startup that was acquired by Box (NYSE: BOX) in 2018.


    In addition to Clarence's work at Google X, Clarence has focused on changing the complexion of tech through Revitalize Ventures, his venture studio, and PitchBLCK pitch competition, two organizations he co-founded to bring social equity to tech.  Clarence credits his career balance with being the proud father of two incredible college-age daughters, Jordan and Avery, who will always be the best two startups he ever created.

    Dana Murray, Environmental Sustainability Manager, City of Manhattan Beach

    We have a returning guest this morning, Dana Murray, Environmental Sustainability Manager for the City of Manhattan Beach.

    Dana leads environmental sustainability policies and programs for the city, including climate resiliency, coastal adaptation planning, reducing plastic pollution, expanding the green business program, native habitat restoration, and climate change mitigation. 

    Dana represents the City of Manhattan Beach as an Alternate on the Board of Directors for the Clean Power Alliance of Southern California, and is a member of Green Cities California and the Urban Sustainability Directors Network.

    Dana was formerly the Senior Marine Scientist and Coastal Policy Manager at Heal the Bay where she worked on science and policy issues related to coastal habitats and marine wildlife in California. She developed Los Angeles' MPA Watch citizen science monitoring program, assessing how people use L.A.’s underwater parks, and served as the Co-Chair of the Los Angeles Marine Protected Areas Collaborative. 

    This morning, we’ll learn about the various environmental programs the City of Manhattan Beach has already implemented, the City's first Climate Ready Program and Sustainable MB.
