Great idea, always up for more Gorillaz!

I’m a huge fan of Gorillaz and I’m so glad to see Russel in the spotlight for once! Just hearing his voice again is amazing! I love learning more about the collaborators and what they have to say about working on such a big project. The sound design is unique, almost spooky and atmospheric and it’s something I really enjoy when listening with headphones.

That being said this is not a perfect podcast. There is a fairly obvious disconnect between Russel and the interviewees. A lot of interview podcasts (real and fake) have a sort of give and take between the host and the guest, but Russ is just sort of there to fill the silence. It does get better each episode (there’s only 3 at the time I’m writing this) and the latest one actually had what I feel was a fairly authentic reaction to Russel making a joke. That’s great! Please keep trying for things like that!

I suppose my point is is that this podcast is good. Short and sweet. But it’s not great. Fans will be listening to hear Russel, so please give us more of him. The podcast is called Things I Like, but what have we really learned about what Russel likes, other than his own music?
