Ep. 97 || "The Cult of Christianity" author John Verner joins us for an uncomfortable conversation about faith

Ep. 97 || "The Cult of Christianity" author John Verner joins us for an uncomfortable conversation about faith

John Verner is the author of The Cult of Christianity: How Churches Control, Contain, and Convert. This book is about John's experience in the evangelical church and dives into the reasons why he left.
John was kind enough to join us on this episode to dive deeper into why he chose to leave the faith. There were a few moments where we didn't know quite where to go next in this interview, and John certainly gave us a lot to think about.
Check out John's work by visiting his website, Verner Books. Connect with John on Facebook.

Chris Calcagno ,

This podcast is awesome

These guys are funny, real, and open-minded. They talk about Christianity from a personal point of view, not a preachy one, and their guests are so diverse. Really great show. Funny, honest.

Refreshingly open, honest and kind

I really enjoy what Ben & Jason have created together. In a world of facades and perfectionism, they show up with honesty and curiosity, and offer a refreshing window into their humanity. Listening to them helps me feel more connected to the people around me -- even the ones I don't know yet!

Humbled ,

Such a needed conversation

Jason and Ben are the real deal. They talk about their struggles with mental illness from their own experience. They’re willing to have tough conversations because they know how much the world needs it. Can’t recommend this podcast enough.
