Colin & Kayla Hemphill are the brave souls who host AniMonday, a show about the terrible power of the anime randomizer. In preparation for an episode, we use Randime to randomly select an anime series on Crunchyroll, then we watch the first four episodes on our own time. On Monday we get together for the podcast to talk about the people and studios behind the show, the story and characters, the production values, and more! In the end, we decide if we'd be willing to watch more, or if this first impression is the end of the road.

Our goal is to keep the podcast lighthearted, clean, and fun! We care about anime, and we'll do our best to talk about the important stuff, but this is a show you can escape to. Fans have even described it as "like relaxing in a hot spring".

New episodes every other Monday.

Episode 54 — Darling in the Franxx

When humanity is threatened by ferocious monsters, society depends on children trained to pilot battle robots called Franxx. When a mysterious and skilled pilot named Zero Two meets a boy named Hiro, the world might finally have the heroes they desperately need.

This one has a mild parental warning! Darling in the Franxx uses some sexual imagery and innuendo, and it would be difficult to have a serious discussion about the anime without describing some of that. It's nothing major, but listener discretion I suppose.

Interesting and Fun!

I thought the random button was a risky choice, but it has made the show tons of fun! I have discovered anime I like that I otherwise would not have through this show. Even if I dislike the anime of the week, the podcast keeps it interesting by focusing on other aspects of the anime aside from the plot and characters: animation style and production, musical score, intro/outro, etcetera. I appreciate that the cast also sets the background for the show (example: a slice of life anime originally based upon a visual novel). I never knew how much I didn’t know about anime! (Like that random hair sticking out of someone’s head in almost every anime is called an ahoge which literally means “foolish hair”!!) Definitely stay tuned at the end of the episodes for funny bloopers.
