Successful Argument Writing
In this week's episode, we explore two tech tools that can help students practice their decision-making and argument-writing skills. The first tool is Quandary, a game-based website that challenges students to make decisions for a future community based on information presented in a graphic novel format. Students will need to use fact versus opinion to make the best decisions for the community. The second tool is ProCon.org, a nonpartisan site that presents both sides of various topics. Students can choose a topic of interest and explore the pros and cons as presented by researchers and professionals in the field. This site is recommended for older students due to the range of topics available. If you're looking for ways to help your students develop their decision-making and argument-writing skills, these tech tools are a great place to start.

The visual representation of the data displays the growth and decline of the data, allowing students to explain the reasoning behind each point. This tool is useful for student reports and presentations. The second website, Timeline JS, allows students to create timelines with images and information. This tool is great for a variety of classes and is a great way to demonstrate learning.

Encyclopedias for Kids
This week's episode of Tech Tools for Teachers focuses on two online encyclopedia resources that can help students with their research: DK Find Out! and Fact Monster. DK Find Out! is a visually-friendly site for younger students with tons of visuals, videos, quizzes, and fun facts all in one place. Fact Monster is a comprehensive site with information on various topics, making it more suitable for upper elementary or middle school students. The site has fewer images and more ads, but students have access to games that are age-appropriate and might be great for free time. These online resources are a great alternative to traditional hardcover encyclopedias and a perfect tool for student-driven inquiry.
