Telly Visions is a podcast about British television and culture, by people who love British television and culture. A product of WETA’s Telly Visions website, we’re here to dig deep into all the things Anglophiles care about, from period dramas to mysteries to Doctor Who and more.
74: Now Stream This: A Discovery of Witches and AMC+
The ladies dig into niche streaming service AMC+ by way of a discussion about one of its best series, the period romance "A Discovery of Witches," whose second season arrives on linear television this month.
73: Ms. Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries
The ladies dig into season 2 of Ms. Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries, including whether Peregrine Fisher lives up to her famous aunt Phryne, and what exactly this show is doing with the romance at its center.
72: Listener Mailbag: Where Do Other British PBS Shows Come From?
A listener asks where the non-Masterpiece British shows on your local PBS station come from and the ladies attempt to explain, in a wide-ranging discussion about everything from Midsomer Murders and Vera to Walter's Choice imports like Seaside Hotel and Line of Separation.
71: Now Stream This: HBO Max Deep Dive
The ladies dive into the world of streaming service HBO Max - what it is exactly, what you can watch on it, how it differs from standard HBO, and whether it's necessary for Anglophiles.
70: Atlantic Crossing Finale Roundtable
Contributor Janet Mullany returns to the show to discuss the final episodes of Atlantic Crossing, from the uncomfortable FDR creep factor and Martha's impressive array of great hats to the series' determined refusal to pick a lane about whatever is going on with their relationship.
69: Netflix's Shadow and Bone
The ladies decide to talk about a show that's not particularly British or especially prestigious, but they love it anyway: Buzzy Netflix fantasy drama Shadow and Bone, which molds a popular YA fantasy into something that's much greater than the sum of its parts.
Laughter is contagious!
Listening to this podcast gives me so much joy. Period dramas are my favorite genre and I love geeking out about them. The ladies on this show have a delightful sense of humor and the sound of their laughter brings a smile to my face every time. It’s contagious! :D
Classic Britcoms Please!?
Love these Ladies
I have been listening since episode 1 and love the podcast as well as the Tellyvisions website! Ani and Lacy provide great coverage of current Bristish shows available across all networks/streaming services as well as background on how these shows make their way to the states. And, best of all they cover what shows will be coming soon! I used to have to hunt around the internet to try to find new (to me) shows and figure out where they were streaming. I wish they had more than one episode per week!
