You wake up to a pitch-black bedroom. You cannot move. A nefarious, black shadow begins to walk slowly, ominously toward your bed. You try to scream, but nothing comes out. Has this ever happened to you? If it has, you are not alone. Online statistics estimate anywhere from 17-50% of the population has reported experiencing sleep paralysis at least once in their lifetime. Most people describe the experience as terrifying and attribute it to some sort of paranormal or demonic experience. Afraid of Conversations with the Dead
Want to get to know the Dead?
Sometimes the Universe delivers ... like with tonight's episode. Former work colleague and friend Tricia Wilson connected me with author and teacher Perdita Finn to talk about her newest book, Take Back the Magic: Conversations with the Unseen World.
And once again, as happens on occasion with this show, the Dead wanted to participate in this dialog as it appears that a few EVPs bled through on Perdita's audio track. I shared a few so take a listen and you be the judge.
Perdita Finn is the co-founder, with her husband Clark Strand, of the non-denominational international fellowship The Way of the Rose, which inspired their book The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary. In addition to extensive study with Zen masters, priests, rabbis, shamans, and healers, she apprenticed with the psychic Susan Saxman, with whom she wrote The Reluctant Psychic. Finn now teaches popular workshops on Getting to Know the Dead, in which participants are empowered to activate the magic in their own lives with the help of their ancestors. She lives with her family in the moss-filled shadows of the Catskill Mountains.

Afraid of High Strangeness at the Columbia River Gorge
Get ready to explore the most beautiful and craziest place for cryptids, unknown creatures and government conspiracies. Welcome to the Columbia River Gorge in Washington state. Your host is James Szubski, purveyor of all things paranormal at Margie's Outdoor Store where locals routinely report encounters with the unexplained. If Jurassic Park was real, this just might be it - a vast contained ecosystem with lush rain forests, high deserts, volcanic mountains, a nuclear outpost and research facility, and creatures found no where else on Earth.
ABOUT JAMES SZUBSKI
James Szubski is the Chief Operating Officer of Margie’s Outdoor Store located deep within the Columbia River Gorge in Washington State. In 2022, his store initiated a paranormal reporting program which has now received well over one hundred reports of strange activity in the Gorge area. James is a former volunteer Search & Rescue EMT, a wildland firefighter, a mountain guide, and a highly decorated US Army infantry veteran. He earned a degree in communications from The Evergreen State College and has enjoyed a decades-long career in that field working for companies like Wizards of the Coast the makers of Dungeons & Dragons and Magic the Gathering. He currently volunteers his time as the leader of the Klickitat Ape Cat Research Team.

Turning me into a paranormal fanatic
Prior to listening to this show I avoided watching or listening to anything paranormal related mostly out of fear. I started listening to the show after a friend recommended it and now I can’t stop! I’m so intrigued to learn more. I appreciate Bob’s enthusiasm and really love his sometimes co-host, Cuyle Carvin. Cuyle’s got such a sexy voice! Hope to hear him on more podcasts!
Fascinating show with a compelling host
I may be a bit biased, as I know Bob personally, but even I didn’t predict how interesting and compelling his podcast would be, nor did I have an idea of what a great job he would do as a host. I knew he was extremely knowledgeable about the material but being a compelling podcaster requires that rare combination of voice, knowledge and charisma.
Awesome show about life and the afterlife!
