HP Plus | Lessons From The Month: Legacy Special

HP Plus | Lessons From The Month: Legacy Special

Welcome to a new segment on HP! It can be hard to absorb some of the many fantastic lessons and messages from our guests, so at the end of each month we’ll be releasing an episode which condenses and curates these down for you and points you in the direction of the key themes.

The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II earlier this month shocked the world, and one of the things that has been said about her over and over is how much she changed it. So we thought LEGACY would be a fitting theme for our very first 'lessons from the month'.

We’ve drawn from the whole archive for this month but in future we will be condensing the lessons from our guests that month into a special episode for you.

We really value your feedback, please let us know be mailing: plus@highperformancegroup.co.uk

E144 - Amanda Blanc: Finding your voice and speaking up

This episode is the start of our CEO Series, in which we will be deep diving into what it takes to be a CEO.
Amanda Blanc is a Welsh businesswoman and the current CEO of Aviva, stepping into the role in July 2020. Amanda grew up in Rhondda valley in Wales, both her grandparents were miners. In this episode she shares how her childhood in Rhondda instilled in her the importance of community, freedom, happiness and fun.
Amanda discusses what she has learnt from her role as CEO and how she approaches leading a million pound company. Communication is key for Amanda, she approaches every conversation with an open mind, wanting to learn how she can improve her work and in turn, the company. During Covid, Amanda would hold virtual town-halls in which she would invite colleagues to share their thoughts with her directly. A key learning for Amanda is, “be your own customer”. You need to use your own service, see how it functions as a user - the good and the bad parts.
In this episode Jake, Damian and Amanda also discuss emotional intelligence, why she will always choose the hard option and how she dealt with being told she was not “the man for the job”.

High Performance Podcast, mind set is key to the journey.

I came across the podcast purely by chance and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve totally enjoyed listening to entrepreneurs, Athletes, Actors and everyday people tell their stories on how high performance is key to their drive, ambition and self development.
I’ve loved every episode and have started learning more about myself than I have over the last 63 years of my life.

You have to share this with your friends and family it’s a life changing podcast.

Hands Down One of my Top Podcasts

I love this podcast. It’s introduced me to tons of athletes, business professionals and more people I’ve never heard of. And I’ve taken away more lessons than I can count to apply to my own life. I’d recommend a listen to anyone who wants to take a step forward and grow in any area of their life.
