Running & Body Image with Keira D'Amato, American Marathon Record Holder
Even if you HATE running, this episode is wildly inspiring. Keira D'Amato went from barely being able to run just 3 minutes at a time to breaking the American Marathon record. And did I mention she's almost 40 with 2 kids?! WONDER WOMAN.
In this episode, we chat:
- how she got into running
- tips for those just starting out in the sport/recreational runners
- how the heck does she balance being a mom, being a full time realtor and setting records?!
- how to prevent injuries
- pressure to look a certain way as a pro athlete? "stay light" as a runner
- disordered eating / body image issues

Thinking and advocating for yourself - inspirational
This podcast made me really think about the people who have an influence on my life at the moment. The people I follow and why I do it. What was my reason for starting what I am doing now? It made me think “what made me make this choice”, while being in school too. I heard Ali saying that she is just an advertiser for her product. That's not the reason I followed her and her brand. I followed because of the reality and the message she spreads through her brand. If it weren’t for the message, then I wouldn't have found her. She likes to focus on reality. I also learned that connecting with your body and your core will be one of the most important things you can do. It’ll help you when no one else believes you. Truly, you’re the only one who really knows what you're going through. It’s better to ask what you're doing than not!!
Such an inspirational and amazing episode. ❤️
So genuine and authentic!
Ali is someone who I hope to meet in person one day and hopefully become friends because her genuine, love-filled, caring personality shines through in everything she does from this podcast, to her Instagram, and to Oat Haus. Ali is so inspiring to me as I hope to own my own business one day, the episode she released about the ins and outs of running a company (if you are interested in starting a business go listen to it! It’s called “if you’ve ever considered starting a company this episode is a *must listen*”) taught me so much and I very much appreciated her brutal honesty about the difficulties that come with running a business while also encouraging anyone who wants to follow their heart/dreams to go for it! I just love this podcast and I recommend it to everyone and anyone who wants to learn something but still feel like they’re having a conversation (albeit one-sided but nonetheless) with a friend!!!
