Fascinating podcast
Ever since the Get Back documentary, I’ve wanted to find out as much as possible about this Beatles era. I’ve listened to the Nagra tapes but it’s hard to make sense of everything. This podcast provides tons of helpful context about what was going on at the time (both in the Beatles’ lives and in the wider culture). I also really appreciate the musical/technical insights, as I lack any knowledge in those areas, yet they are essential for really understanding these sessions. Highly recommend to Beatles nerds and obsessives!
Turn It Up!
Fascinating, especially if you’re heavy duty into Beatles minutiae. However, lots of frustrating production choices. Whenever someone is quoted, the volume dips about 80% and some silly, scratchy sound affects are thrown on so these moments become completely inaudible. A shame because it’s an otherwise fine podcast.
Terrific deep dive
The Beatles Get Back sessions have been a source of fascination for decades, but attempting to wade through the hundred plus hours of Nagra recordings is daunting for even the most dedicated Beatles scholar. Fortunately, Nick Anthony has done it for us. He not only walks us through everything we hear, he provides invaluable context to enhance our understanding. It’s a first rate show, highly recommended for Beatle heads everywhere.
