Skin Cancer Awareness, Pt. 5: Into the Depths- Beauty is Not Just Skin Deep with Bronwyn Davis

I am excited to have today’s guest on my show.  Bronwyn Davis has found her niche as a coach, but not just any coach. She is coaching others with a twist- as a Sun Care Coach (TM)

I know you are thinking, what is that? Well Bronwyn will be telling us more about that as well as her history with her skin issues and how she was frightened by her pediatrician at the tender age of 12.  Her focus on awareness now shines on skin cancer and skin related conditions.  If you are struggling with confidence and unable to move past old behaviors and inner criticism, Bronwyn is here to teach you how to love yourself and skin once again by going into the depths to realize beauty isn’t just skin deep.

As someone who has been diagnosed with skin cancer, vitiligo, and rosacea, Bronwyn personally understands the physical, emotional, and mental challenges of being sun sensitive in a sun-worshiping culture.

Skin Cancer Awareness, Pt. 4: Beacon of Light - Cancer Support and Sibling to a Melanoma Survivor with Kathleen St. Clair

This is a special first ever episode like this on the show. It is a conversation between two sisters. One is a cancer survivor and the other dedicates her days making a difference to cancer patients. Through thick and thin they are there for each other.

My sister, Kathleen St. Clair joins me in today's episode. She works as a patient services coordinator at Cancer Services and has a very important role in assisting those who are now thrust into this new world. Her compassionate and caring nature is an asset to those who walk through her door looking for guidance..

As a sibling to a survivor, you’ll hear her explain what it was like to learn that cancer had invaded her family and what it meant to watch from the outside as I went through my fight against stage 3 melanoma.

Skin Cancer Awareness, Pt. 3: Dressed to the Nines - Sustainably Sourced and Fashion Forward UPF 50+ Clothing with Christie Covarrubias

Think of all the times you’ve been out on a sunny day, only to find yourself hours later with a terrible sunburn. The painful, hot feeling of the burn and skin damage may have felt temporary. But what if it wasn’t? Did you know that more than 2 people die of skin cancer in the U.S. every hour and having 5 or more sunburns in your life doubles your risk for melanoma?

There are so many ways to stay sun safe, but when it comes to covering your body, the simplest way is with clothing and not just any clothing.

This leads me to my guest Christie Covarrubius. She is the CEO and co-founder of SUN50 apparel company. Sun50 is a female led sun protection clothing brand on a mission to disrupt the apparel industry and elevate skin cancer awareness. Sun50’s products are made in the USA. They are fashion forward, sustainable, and ethically made, designed and developed by a successful team with over 40+ years of combined experience in the sun protective clothing industry.

Beautiful, insightful podcast

What a wonderful, insightful and much needed podcast. I love how Lorie infuses her own cancer journey into the episodes. And I love her guests - they are brave, inspiring and empowered. She shines a light on melanoma and eloquently captures her guests’ cancer journey in moving ways. Looking forward to more listening.

A Spirit Lifter

The great thing about this show is you don't feel like you're being trained on how to overcome their obstacles. You don't feel like the guest's are there to tell their story. It feels like friends having conversations about their experiences, it's interesting enough you want to listen in, and you learn something along the way.

Understanding Cancer

As a two-time cancer survivor Lori Tesny decided to create a safe space for people who are either living with cancer or have survived cancer. The Sailing Through Life podcast helps individuals navigate the tough times. Make sure to start with the second episode titled New Day where Lori shares about her diagnosis, treatments and feeling completely changed by this experience. Lori is an actual sailor. The ocean teaches us so much about facing our fears, learning to let go, and navigating through life. This podcast is for everyone who wants to be a support system for individuals living with cancer. I highly recommend it.
