#29 Timeless: Nicole's Wanderings in Kings Canyon National Park

#29 Timeless: Nicole's Wanderings in Kings Canyon National Park

In this episode Nicole shares her story about a super fun camping trip in Kings Canyon national park.

It starts with a solo night where Nicole shares the ease of sleeping in your own car. You literally drive in and crawl into the back to sleep. Easy Peasy. She was joined by a friend the next morning and it turned into a wonderful wandering adventure weekend.

The value of the weekend is that Nicole and her friend didn't have a particular agenda but they did have cell service to look up trails on their phones. They wandered to see the amazing and wise Boole Tree located in the Kings Canyon National Forest- this is different the National Park. Especially because the Boole Tree is marked as the largest tree in our country's national forest system but it is not the largest in the US national parks.

The Boole tree stands 269 ft tall and at its base is 35 feet in diameter. It is amazing! It is also the 6th largest tree in the world! Nicole talks about how she and her friends tried taking a bunch of different photos attempting to really demonstrate the size of the tree. They also sat for a long time just being present. Mindfulness is so important in nature because it allows you to better connect with your environment and the healing power that nature can provide for people. Elise and Nicole will be doing a 7 part series discussing the many benefits of nature for people, including the lowering of blood pressure, the improvement of cognitive function, the leveling up of the immune system, calming effects, minimizing anxiety and depression. The list is infinite so be sure to tune in.

After the tree Nicole and friend took off to explore waterfalls and take pictures of the setting sun in the canyon. It was truly an amazing weekend that was based of flow and what felt good in the moment as opposed to having to stick to a schedule or power through hikes just to tag a location. Being wholey present in nature is healing and magnificent.

#28 Empathy Cards not Sympathy Cards

#28 Empathy Cards not Sympathy Cards

This is a great episode that discusses the difference between sympathy and empathy and why empathy should our first choice when showing up for others.

Whether it is a dear friend or a stranger at the grocery store empathy allows us to take on not only the perspective but also the feelings of what someone else may be going through. In the words of Brene Brown empathy encourages us to get down into the pit with the person suffering so that we may support them with a holistic approach.

There are three components of true empathy. The first is the cognitive piece in which we try to truly understand what the person is going through. In other words try to see the situation through their eyes. The second component is feeling the way the other person feels. That doesn't mean that we have to know the exact feelings they are experiencing but it means trying to duplicate the somatic experience that they are having. These first two elements drive the third component of true empathy which is compassion. Compassion means that we are trying to truly identify with what the person is going through and that we are willing to offer support or assistance in the matter.

All of this is contrasted by sympathy which seems to be very superficial. In the episode we speak about it with similarity to pity. Sympathy can also be friends with judgement. It pales in comparison to empathy where you choose to truly engage in the totality of the situation, rather than throw a couple of words of support out and walk away.

In truth empathy is something that comes very easily to some and not so much to others. But just like curiosity, empathy can be honed and developed. Ironically, it is curiosity that allows empathy to grow, as curiosity allows us to want to understand more and feel more about the situation.

Empathy is where it's at. Drop the mic.

As always we are grateful for our listeners. We encourage you to share this podcast with others. Especially friends and family, students and coworkers. Let's all develop empathy so that we can support each other in our highest abilities.

#27 Current Events June 2022 - There is another way...

#27 Current Events June 2022 - There is another way...

Elise felt called to speak up on the current events of 2022, specifically the school shootings in the United States.  As these shootings are highlighting that we (humans in modern day society) have created a toxic environment for ourselves.  Children are our canaries in the coal mine, and they are ALL singing (not to mention all of the other global maximum capacities that we have already exceeded and are on the brink of exceeding)... It is time for MEANINGFUL change.

There is another way.  We can change this.

Everything you see in the human built world today was invented by someone.   This means YOU have the power in your hands to shape the future.  I want to ENCOURAGE you to step up and do so!

A new paradigm is needed.  The regenerative movement is here to bring us back to natural norms that create a healthy society for all.   I am here to share it with you all.  There is a new way.  Humans can re-harmonize with nature, as we have lived for 1,000s upon 1,000s of years, and we can make it modernly luxurious without the current toxicity that is depleting us all and causing children to gun down other children.

Want to know more?   I'd be happy to chat with you.  Email me at elise@mycoachelise.com

I guide people on their personal inner regenerative journeys, so that they can reconnect to who they are and feel empowered to make the difference that they want to see in the world.

#26 Elise goes into the "Egg"

#26 Elise goes into the "Egg"

In this episode, Elise shares her complete experience in her hour-long  Harmonic Egg® session.  Elise wanted to  try a session out of sheer curiosity, and figured that she would also benefit since her stress levels are through the roof these days.    It was an unexpected experience that she thought you all might enjoy hearing about this new modality.

The Harmonic Egg® was invented by Gail Lynn.

It is a unique, patented "egg-shaped" chamber designed to create a light, color and sound therapy using sacred geometry to help the body heal itself: mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.  The light and sound is selected based on your intentions for the session.
“Conventional medicine, at its foundation, focuses on the biochemistry of cells, tissue, and organs. Energy Medicine, at its foundation, focuses on the energy fields of the body that organize and control the growth and repair of cells, tissue, and organs. Changing impaired energy patterns may be the most efficient, least invasive way to improve the vitality of organs, cells, and psyche.” – David Feinstein, Ph.D.
Sound and light healing dates back to >40,000 years ago.  Aboriginal people in Australia use Didgeridoo  to influence the health of bones and muscles, as well as, break up stuck emotions.

The Harmonic Egg offers deep relaxation for the body to reboot/reset. Sometimes the body is spinning with so much trauma and chaos it can’t get back to “normal”.  Sitting in a resonant environment may help sync the cells (as has been demonstrated in many science experiments where coo-coo clock pendulums all start swinging in sync after being in a room together). The cells can reset and re-balance to encourage natural healing. When the body is in balance and relaxed it knows how to heal.

#25.5 Our Experience Floating! (In a deprivation tank)

#25.5 Our Experience Floating! (In a deprivation tank)

In this mini-episode we talk about our own personal experiences floating and share some of the benefits of floating.

We are both big advocates for finding holistic methods for improving sleep, reducing stress and improving overall wellness. Floating checks these boxes and if you are lucky you can even get a cool little vision trip while you float!

A big reason why floats are so beneficial is because they are high in magnesium which promotes bone and heart health as well as helping with sleep. The salt water in the float is magnesium sulfate so as you float the magnesium is absorbed into the skin and adds to the relaxing and healthy elements of the float experience.

Floating can put you in a state of deep relaxation 1 hr in the float tank = 6 hours of sleep... who doesn't want that?
It can also reduce inflammation, create deep relaxation in the muscles and thus allow your aches and pains to recede or disappear all together.

Check out this episode and try not to want to experience the awesome of floating!

#25 Get relief while you Float with Rebecca Sgambati

#25 Get relief while you Float with Rebecca Sgambati

In this Episode we talk with Rebecca Sgambati the co-owner of  Peak Performance Wellness and Float.

Not sure what a float is? You may have heard it referred to as deprivation tanks. It's a tank filled with salt water to make clients "weightless" in the water.  There are options of having lights on or off and in some cases you can even keep music on to help. However, the ultimate experience lies in the dark and quiet floating moments, where your body and senses completely relax.

Rebecca was lovely enough to come onto the show and talk about all of the amazing health benefits that come with floats and answers some of the questions people frequently have about the process.

Benefits include: minimizing stress, relief from pain and improves sleep. There are many other benefits that come with this incredibly enjoyable process.

Some myths that were dispelled in this interview...
Is it dirty water? - No. The water is filtered through a very specific 4 part cleaning system. I am pretty sure that the end of the process the water might be cleaner (minus the salt) than our drinking water. Can people drown? - No. The water is only 10 inches deep so it is very unlikely. Even if you fall asleep the salt water itself would wake you up in your mouth and eyes before anything else could happen. Is it ok to sleep? -Yes! Many people find the process so relaxing that they do fall asleep and this is great! In addition, many people drop into dream states or even deep states of conscious dreaming.Rebeccas shares many other fun facts about the benefits of floating and how many of her customers come weekly for high level body health. Definitely worth giving it a chance.
Peak Performance Float and Wellness Center opened its doors in June of 2017 as Walnut Creek’s first and only float center. Rebecca Sgambati and her husband Dave are committed to helping their community feel and be their best each day with float therapy, light therapy, infrared sauna, yoga and more!  With six private float tanks, they have enjoyed introducing this amazing wellness routine to the East Bay.
