Take a break from "keeping it together". Let's get real!
Let these courageously vulnerable stories inspire you to replace negative comparison with compassion. Not just for others, but for yourself as well. Be gentle with yourself. Learn to love and honor you while allowing space for others to do the same. Let's choose kindness because you never truly know what's going on for someone...Beyond the Picket Fence.

The Licensed Professional Counselor
In Episode 33 of Beyond the Picket Fence, Sandtrice Russell LPC, CPCS aka "Tree the LPC" shares her journey from a troubled youth to a professional counselor.
This Episode is probably one of my very favorite's. We dig into a trauma filled childhood, troubled juvenile years, a beautifully vulnerable self discovery, a surprise love story, and more. You may be surprised to hear that even therapists need therapists. This is yet, more proof that no one has it "all together" and that's ok!
We also discuss the importance of kindness!! It's simple really, love God and love God's people. Sandtrice is making a big dent in the mental health stigma and I'm so grateful she came on the show. Enjoy!

The "Manly" Man
Society creates pressure. We often talk to women on this show but today we get the man's point of view.
Robert Pearson is the husband of a woman we interviewed last year. He asked to come on the show because he's ready to let himself be vulnerable and to share his own story.
In this episode we discuss in depth the trauma that comes from the "Be a Man" ideology. Robert grew up pretending everything was ok when in reality he lived in a home where you had to walk on eggshells around his father. As an adult he struggles with wanting to not become his father yet still learn to take care of himself and his family.

Episode 29 The Psychotherapist
In this season 2 premiere of Beyond the Picket Fence, Dr. Heather Browne shares her story of growing up with a mother who suffered from paranoia schizophrenia and being widowed by a man who passed away from a heart attack.
She learned the hard way that grief is different for everyone. She reflects on how her own experience has shaped her outlook on life, and how it has helped her to understand and empathize with those who are struggling with grief in their own lives. She also provides advice to those who are dealing with loss, and encourages them to take the time to process their emotions in whatever way is best for them.
Another story from Beyond the Picket Fence that proves, no one has a perfect life! It's ok to take a break from keeping it all together!

Like a friend!
So I have only listened to one episode ‘The Convicted Women’ but I will absolutely be listening to more. It’s like I’m sittin’ at the park with my best friends and we are just feeling life together! I want to meet these women and want them to meet me cause they love so easily I think they might love me. What the heck! I can’t wait to hear more!
A must listen!
Chelsea does such a great job of creating space for her guests to share their stories. She has so much compassion that exudes throughout each episode. I find myself tearing up when listening to extremely relatable pieces of several episodes. Get your popcorn and a tissue, and enjoy!
