Comets headed to the finals - The Blue Turf

Comets headed to the finals - The Blue Turf

Erik Bergrud from the Kansas City Comets broadcast team and Thad Bell from the Kansas City Soccer Journal recorded the latest episode of The Blue Turf for the 2023-24 season. Erik and Thad discuss the Comets winning the Eastern Conference Finals. A big lead and dominate performance for the Comets through three quarters but the Wave did not give up. Milwaukee went sixth-attacker and made an incredible comeback to take the lead. It took a late goal by MASL Defender ofthe Year Robert Palmer to send it to overtime. A clutch goal by Christian Anderaos in overtime gave the win to Kansas City.

Thad Loses His Mind - Shades of Blue

Thad Loses His Mind - Shades of Blue

Our own Thad Bell is as worked up as he's ever been after Sporting KC again dropped points at home, this time to the worst possible foe, St. Louis City.
It was objectively a great game of soccer and we cover all the golazos, saves, and referees. Plus we take away all of the STL goals for being lucky.
Thad and Cody don't hold back on their frustrations after Peter Vermes' postgame comments.
It's not all doom and gloom as the Current pick up another nice win, making them undefeated through five. Plus the Comets got a big away win in the playoffs.

St. Louis ****ty - Shades of Blue

Cheyenne is back with us to talk you through rivalry week as STL come to town on Saturday!
Apologies if you notice a change in audio quality this episode, had to use the stream audio this time.
We cover who to watch for St. Louis, plus some key players they're missing. Will Remi Walter play this weekend?
Sporting KC desperately need a win at home, they've won just one home game so far this year.
Does this team lack on-field leadership?

On to Milwaukee for Conference Finals - The Blue Turf

Erik Bergrud from the Kansas City Comets broadcast team and Thad Bell from the Kansas City Soccer Journal recorded the latest episode of The Blue Turf for the 2023-24 season. Erik and Thad discuss the Comets winning the Eastern Conference Semifinals with a second straight win over Utica.
It wasn't easy, the Comets went down early on the road but battled back and dominated the second half.
Captain Nacho Flores has been at his best and the rest of the team has stepped up as well.

Goats & Golazos at Arrowhead - Shades of Blue

Goats & Golazos at Arrowhead - Shades of Blue

Cheyenne (@btwncleansheets) joins us in the studio to relive (and debate) the thriller at Arrowhead Stadium.
She is on a pretty cool journey across the country after quitting a job and buying a van to immerse herself in the beautiful game. Cheyenne is finding every nook, cranny, and 4th tier US Open Cup match of American soccer.
72,610 people were in attendance for Sporting KC vs Inter Miami. Was it the right decision to move the match to Arrowhead? We have one last long discussion about the potential impact of that wild night of soccer.
Where are Daniel Salloi and Alan Pulido?
Why losing Remi Walter might have been the difference in the match.
We put Messi & Miami behind us and look ahead to another barn burner vs St. Louis. Will Vermes stick with the 4-2-3-1?

Subs

Love the show! For the question on subs, Shelton (Pulido), Bassong, and Pierre. We haven’t seen much of Bassong, but what we have seen he didn’t appear to be a liability, which is all you need in a sub to see out the game. Game was probably too physical for Memo, as much as I love him as a sub generally.

Best Sporting KC podcast

Love the show, normally it’s a four star but with the addition of Stacey it’s a 5 star! Keep it up!

MUST. LISTEN.

Back at it again! These guys are hilarious. It’s a great mix of comedy and serious analysis. Thad always being deadpan. Cody trying so hard to get Thad to break. David and Robert are so funny.
