    OAC 216 Are You Drifting?

    OAC 216 Are You Drifting?

Loaded question, huh?  Because you're wondering what in the world am I talking about and you have no idea if you are or you aren't.
Here's what my message is all about today.  Are you drifting away from those really awesome good habits you've had and drifting into not so good behavior?
Simple example.  Did you used to have family meals around the dinner table every night?  Did all the family activity start sidelining that?  That happens.  But what about those nights everyone is home and you opt for sitting in front of the TV instead of sitting at the table...you are drifting away from an invaluable habit.
Gathering around the table should be far more often than our big holiday Thanksgiving meal.  In all cultures breaking bread together is a sacred and valued practice.  Yet, we all get soooo busy we drift and don't realize the consequences of moving away from it.
So I talk about other habits we drift away from.  Ever been totally committed to that work out EVERY day?  And then you take that extended vacation, or you get the flu, or a new project takes up your time and suddenly you can't seem to get back on track?
Happens to all of us!  We have certain ingrained habits because that's what gives us our structure, our security.  But what about those extra good ones we could institute, like meditating?  So so good for the stress, but it stresses me out setting aside 20 minutes to do that!!!
However, I am drifting back to getting back into that habit.  And come Thursday, you'll hear me interview my awesome friend, partner, mentor Cynthia Bazin of Smart Chics and learn how she laser-focuses on her social media to grow her business.
She has some incredible habits that have been very beneficial - so please put it down on your calendar to tune in.  Or if you go to my site: oneawesomecommunity.com and subscribe you'll get a copy of my free e-book "Brand Yourself Awesome" and you'll get each podcast delivered right to your email when it's published.
I hope you do, but either way thanks for listening.

OAC 218 Are YOU 'Cyber' Safe?

OAC 218 Are YOU 'Cyber' Safe?

I know everyone is tired of hearing about hacked emails and the FBI's involvement, but today I heard an FBI agent and had to share this information with you.
First off, I forgot to mention in my broadcast that even apps can contain viruses.  Did you know that?  I sure never would have suspected that.  But that therein lies the problem.  Those of us that are innocent of using any of our internet for ill gain, are also ignorant, often times, of the dangers.
This FBI agent went on to share with us all the different schemes that hackers use. You've probably heard the phrase 'phishing', have you heard that there's 'spear phishing', too!
Phishing is a mass hack without zoning in on a particular group. Spear phishing is very targeted.
So some of the things I learned today that I want to share, is do not post the department you work in if gives you have access to funds or private files. (You will hear the story I heard today on my show that will explain that more.)  Therefore, you might want to be more vague on your Social Media profiles.
I also share about a recent Trojan attack that I experienced that was trying to access my data through 'the back door'.  Fortunately I have a brother who is an expert in that field and helped me avert any damage.  Listen to my show to hear how you can avoid that, too.  Just know you NEVER, EVER want to call the number flashing on your screen.
So most of my show is about this subject, but then I conclude with my happy celebration of being with Send Out Cards for 11 years now.  That's a long time for a lot of network marketing careers.  I know longer ones, but I also know shorter ones.  Please help me celebrate by sending a card on me, just go to: "OneAwesomeCard.com"  (I won't call as a follow up - just send a a card to someone you care about.)
So I hope you pass this information along to save someone from a cyber meltdown.  And thank you for listening.
    Passing On A Smile,
    Gail
P.S. If you have subscribed to my show, but never confirmed or never received a confirmation request, I have re-mailed that today. Please confirm if you'd like to receive this show in your email box. If you've not subscribed, please do :-)

OAC 219 What? Where's my wallet?

OAC 219 What? Where's my wallet?

I'm not really fond of the fact this is the second scary subject I'm bringing to you, but when life lessons happen I have a mission to share it with you.
And this is not one I wished I'd ever experienced.  While my children are away doing family duties in another state we were asked to be with our grand daughter while they were gone.
Our absolute pleasure, of course.  Plus, puppy and dog duties, too. So being a very independent and active 18-year old she had plans last night.  No biggie, we did too, and we were all to meet up later at her house.  I planned to spend the night and help her with homework and getting off in a timely fashion in the morning.
All was going as planned until we got a phone call at 9 PM telling us her wallet had been stolen and...her wallet was attached to her car keys!!! Yikes.  And her license, school ID, base ID, insurance card and her whole young life in this wallet key chain combo.
So we had to run out an extra key that only unlocked the car, not configured to drive it, and get things out that she had stowed for her friends.  Thankfully, she had her phone so we were able to communicate.
Well the evening continued with getting us all home and very worried about the severe implications.  Mom and Dad immediately cancelled the debit card, but what about identity theft, and fraud on all levels?  Not to mention getting a replacement license, etc. Losing her money and hundreds of dollars worth of gift cards she'd received. Changing the door locks, 'cause the house key was on that key ring, too!!!
So at midnight the Sheriff's office came by to take down a statement to file a report.  Need less to say, we did not get much sleep and our grand daughter did not get her homework done.
Lesson is, as you hear me talk about on this show, we cannot leave our purses, wallets, keys, suitcases or what have you just casually stashed somewhere or with other people.  You'll want to hear the whole story, 'cause I bet you've been there, done that.
So if you don't mind, sharing this it could save someone else a great deal of pain.

    Passing On A Smile,
    Gail
P.S. Wednesday's podcast with Cynthia Bazin on "Tips & Strategies" will be so much more uplifting!  I promise :-)

OAC 221 Have You Heard About "You Matter Marathon"?

OAC 221 Have You Heard About "You Matter Marathon"?

I am beyond grateful that my dear friend, Jane Anderson introduced me to this awesome movement!  And guess what - there is no running, how's that for an awesome marathon???
This is a very special marathon started by Cheryl Rice.  I can't do justice to all that she shares on the site, so I highly recommend you listen in and then click here and join in. I'm already at the starting line.  One thing that I will share from her site is this great quote:
"Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach" —Clarissa Pinkola Estes
How often do you feel helpless, that you can't help someone? How often have you, yourself, felt that you just didn't matter?  I am pretty sure the majority of our population, worldwide, has struggled at least once in their life feeling like they didn't matter.
This delightful and positive joining of hands is an absolutely brilliantly awesome way to help us all help one another.  Simply by giving someone a card that says: YOU MATTER.
I ordered my supply of 30 free cards to start giving away thinking I may not get them all passed out by the end of November, but then I thought, why does there have to be an end. I'm not running :-)
I hope once you listen to this you will feel compelled to share it with everyone you know. That's YouMatterMarathon.com Watch the 3 minute video from Cheryl Rice who is an Author, Speaker and Coach.
By the way when you get on the site to join in you'll see that you can invite businesses, teachers, parents, groups, organizations - everyone! So we got some hustling to do!!!
Thank you, Cheryl Rice you have inspired so many, and I look forward to helping this marathon movement go around the world!
    Passing On A Smile,
    Gail

    OAC 223 Tis The Season.

    OAC 223 Tis The Season.

Do you hear the jingle bells?  See all the trees already decorated and the Christmas lights on the houses?  What about all the stores?  Elves have been everywhere, long before Black Friday :-)
That's why I just had to share how this season goes for me. It's all about creating that special Christmas card or two and the fun I have sending them to everyone!
It's a long established tradition that I believe goes back to the 1700's!  And so that's what I talk about today is the gift that a Christmas card truly is.  Because it really is so much more than just a card.  It's hearing from you.  You're reaching out and wishing them a happy holiday, a Merry Christmas.
How do you feel when you get a card in the mail, any time?  But something about those heartfelt Christmas cards that just adds to the warmness of the holiday.
So I invite you to listen in to my story about how I send cards and what my reflection is in this regard.  I talk about Send Out Cards which I have been a part of for over 11 years now and how easy it is to use our system.  But it doesn't really matter if you use ours or buy Hallmark or print off that family newsletter on your computer and stuff them into an envelope with those precious photos.  What matters is that you send them.
I love the photo cards with family all gathered together, in that frozen moment of time where you're all happy to be together. It's a stressful time of the year, except when you take the time to open those Christmas cards and display them for family and friends to enjoy, too.
So grab a cup of eggnog or coffee and listen to my show, and sharing is always appreciated. And stay tuned tomorrow for Cynthia Bazin of SmartChic sharing more of her brilliance and on Thursday, April Bolivar of FollowAprilsLead.com will talk about training your dogs and her new book!!!
    In the meantime...
    Passing On A Smile,
    Gail
