The story behind the publication of I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, by Michelle McNamara, a masterful true crime account of the Golden State Killer—the elusive serial rapist turned murderer who terrorized California for over a decade.

Featuring interviews with the author, her husband, Patton Oswalt, and others who worked to publish the book: the L.A. Magazine editor who commissioned the first long-form article about the killer, Nancy Miller, her literary agent, Dan Greenberg, her book editor, Jennifer Barth, and more. The book is described as utterly original and compelling, destined to become a true crime classic, and the story behind its publication is equally remarkable.

Beautifully Done

I have finished the current 3 episodes of the podcast and I have to say, aside from some repetitive interview information (statements heard in episode 1 were repeated in episode 2 ) it was marvelous to hear her voice and be able to understand more into how this important story came out. I praise Patton for his ability to continue this story for his beloved late wife and to encourage the solving of these horrendous tails.

I also appreciate that her obsession with this killer helped me feel so much better about my interest in true crime and unsolved murder/mysteries.
I subscribed and can’t wait to hear more!

ILLBE GONE In the dark

I’m really disappointed. This was about police work, DNA history and forensic advancement. And the author. Which would be fine except for the victims. Many, many victims.
I expected to read about the victims and their families. Also, the devastating impact on their lives.
