Immaterial: 5,000 Years of Art, One Material at a Time

Stories of the materials used in making art are often as thought-provoking and illuminating as the objects themselves. From The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Immaterial examines the materials of art and what they can reveal about history and humanity. Each episode looks at a single material: paper, clay, jade, shells, and others, exploring the qualities and meanings that are often overlooked.
Fascinating

I find myself talking about this podcast more than anyone I listen to.
Great Content, Terrible Host
Feb 13
Although most of the content is fascinating, I cannot get past the host’s constant mispronunciation of dozens of words. Notably, she pronounces, “museum” as “Mu-ZEHM.” It is not an accept - it is like she is purposely doing it. For this reason, I had to stop listening and I just read the text of the podcast.
Loved this!

Fascinating story, beautifully told
Great subject matter, fair production

Well not really the production overall, just the narrator’s exaggerated intonations, fry, etc. Sounds like a Daily Show parody of the current sound of documentary podcasts. Tone it down and it’ll be easier to listen to. It is boring material to many people, but speaking like you’re a second grade teacher won’t change that.
