NEXTpittsburgh’s first podcast “In Other News” is hosted by award-winning journalists Tony Norman and Natalie Bencivenga. Their warm, thoughtful rapport was built over the years spent together in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette newsroom. In this new venture, they focus on all the news you need to know – but maybe haven’t heard about elsewhere, as well as discussions of the state of the media and ways to activate listeners to become engaged with issues that matter to them. They share hot takes on local and national issues, politics and pop culture and welcome a guest each episode to drill down on topics that center justice while illuminating ways to strengthen our communities.

Then they drill down with NEXTpittsburgh’s new Restaurant Editor, Kim Lyons, and hear about her approach to her role as a reporter. All politics is local
So great to have a locally produced Pittsburgh public/current affairs podcast. And that it’s produced and hosted by two knowledgeable, fun and friendly journalists is icing on the cake. I’ve enjoyed reading Tony’s writings over the years, and as he always has, he continues to remind us that what happens across the country and world emerges as well right here in our own back yards, and we have an obligation to engage with it. Bravo!

In just 30 minutes, I feel more knowledge on the week's topics and empowered to enact the change I want to see in the world. Plus, as a former journalism student of Tony's, I'm transported back to a classroom I've missed very much.
