    [30] Stalker: The Holy Fool

    [30] Stalker: The Holy Fool

In our final episode of "Season 2" we enlist Yakov Grinberg to help peel back some of the many layers within Tarkovsky's ponderous, impassioned 1979 masterpiece "Stalker"; a hard to describe — and equally hard to forget — meditation on the human condition, and the broader challenge of expressing the inexpressible.

[27] The Serpent and the Rainbow: Now I Have the Power of the Jaguar

One of the lesser-remembered entries in Wes Craven’s oeuvre, The Serpent and the Rainbow is a bit less than the sum of its parts, sending Bill Pullman stumbling and snarking through Haiti in search of a substance that can turn men into zombies.

Eran and Jesse talk about Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell’s landmark horror films that set such a high bar for the nascent Splatstick genre that they’ve yet to be dethroned thirty-plus years later. Groovy.

Witty analysis and excellent company

This podcast has the delightful quality of being engaging on a few levels; it does what it sets out to do and gives the listener forty minutes of movie deconstruction & analysis. Rather than just a review (though there's plenty of that built in), it's an examination of a select few facets or ideas inherent in the movie, not necessarily what you'd expect but always interesting (seriously, what's up with the old guy in Prometheus?).
Jesse and co. keep things conversational, it's easy to get drawn into the discussion of movie minutia.
As a person prone to pausing audiocasts and never returning, I can give this one the finicky podcast listener seal of approval.

Nothing here

Movie criticism or analysis is not two guys with zero talents or achievements telling the filmmakers what they should have done to make the film better.

Fun!

What a fun podcast to listen to! If you love movies you should be listening to In the Cut. It's the nerdy conversations you have with your friends :)
