Brett’s iMessages Tip: In iMessages, you can “Hide Alerts” for only certain individuals or message groups by swiping to the left on a message and tapping the blue bell with a slash through it. You’ll now see a crescent moon on the left of that message and it will stop notifications for ONLY that conversation, but you’ll still receive notifications for all your other messages.

Jeff’s iMessages Tip: If you want to let someone know that you are on your way, you can certainly send them a quick text message.  If you want to be more precise, there are some quick ways to do that in the Messages app.  First, you can type “I’m at” and then hit the spacebar.  The iPhone will give you a suggestion of sending your current location on the map.  Second, you can type “I’ll be there in” and then hit the spacebar.  If the iPhone thinks it knows where you are going (for example, if you are using Maps to navigate or you recently looked up a location), the iPhone will suggest how long it will take you to get there.  Just tap the suggestion and the other person will know where to expect you.

Jeff’s Feel-Good Video Pick: Ted Lasso received 20 Emmy nominations this week, the most that the first season of any comedy series has ever received in TV history.  But anything that is good can also be made fun of.  The very funny Honest Trailers series -- part of the Screen Junkies channel on YouTube -- loves to poke fun at popular movies and TV shows, and this week they released the Honest Trailers take on Season 1 of Ted Lasso. It’s funny and worth watching.

Jeff’s Presentation Tip: You can use Keynote in a PowerPoint world! Start your presentation in Keynote and use the better tools for managing pictures and objects (like the Instant Alpha tool!), and then you can export your Keynote slides to PowerPoint - usually only minor tweaks necessary.

Brett’s Presentation Tip: Use your iPhone to remotely control your Keynote presentation on your Mac or iPad - it’s like a presentation remote on steroids! Both devices must be on the same network and you connect through the Keynote app.

Brett’s App: iExit is one of the best road-trip companion because it tells you what’s coming up on the next exits on U.S. Interstate Highways. Plus it’s FREE!

Jeff’s App: Google Voice is a free app and service that gives you a phone number for calling, text messaging, and voicemail.  When a store or company or organization asks me for my number but I don’t want to give them my real phone number, I give them my Google Voice number.  They can leave voice mails there or send text messages, but I have notifications turned off for the Google Voice app so that I’m not bothered by those calls coming in.
