Demetria was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago.  She received her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Florida A&M University and her master's degree in communications from Governors State University. 
Demetria hosted the red carpet at the Country Music Awards in Nashville, interviewed local and national politicians, and pressed civil rights leaders on issues affecting the country. 
In her spare time, Demetria worked as an adjunct speech instructor at local community colleges
