Dr. Alice Vestergaard is a pioneer in the integration of expressive arts into interdisciplinary health professions training. She created the required humanities course in the RN to BSN program at Samuel Merritt University and also the HEARTS (Health, Education, and the ARTS university-wide initiative. She is currently working on a narrative medicine workbook that can be integrated across all health professions training to assist in creating better patient-centric care.
We are also joined by one of her students, Lori Aston-Dixon. Lori is a graduate of the RN-BSN program at Samuel Merritt University. She has been a registered nurse since 2012 with a background in Cardiology, Stroke/Neuro, and Trauma.
