    • Arts

In this episode of The Living Artist, Preston speaks with nomadic painter and New Zealand born artist Leisa Collins. Leisa specializes in Architectural Paintings that highlight historical structures and houses in the USA and beyond. Born in New Zealand, Leisa honed her craft as an artist and wet her appetite for traveling at an early age. Her travels eventually took her to the United States, where she and her husband now live, work and travel, showcasing Leisa's wonderful architectural paintings. A selection of 650 of her close to 3000 paintings are now the subject of her latest book entitled, Hand Painted Homes: An Artist's Pen & Watercolor Journey Across America. Leisa speaks with Preston about her passion for historical buildings and homes, how she decided to revisit art in her 50's and make it her career, tools and strategies she used to build her booming art business, creating the Leisa Collins Historic Preservation Award, getting press, building a massive and successful newsletter, making a living off of art commissions, the importance of doing your own research, navigating your own unique path as an artist, being interested in people, giving back to the community, mentoring artists, her own artistic process, and so much more. This is a fun, informative and adventurous conversation that you won't want to miss!
