    127. Human design and intuitive eating, with Charlie Garnham

    127. Human design and intuitive eating, with Charlie Garnham

In this week’s episode I’m talking to Charlie Garnham.
Charlie is a Human Design expert, specialising in helping women to move away from their Good Girl conditioning and stepping away from the frantic “doing” of their businesses and lives and finding more flow and ease by becoming the natural leader they were born to be. Intuitive, yet practical, Charlie uses the Human Design system to uncover your personal map to success in life through teaching the system to others and guiding them to embody their unique design.
A marketer in her corporate career, Charlie has spent her life trying to understand why she is so different and found the answer in her experimentation with the Human Design system which has enabled her to stop feeling stressed and bitter, and live with ease in all aspects of life.
In my conversation with Charlie, we talk about the concept of human design (a system that helps individuals understand their true selves and what makes them different based on their time and place of birth), and its application in areas like eating behaviours, emotional states, and movement habits, with an emphasis on aligning individual needs with lifestyle choices for improved well-being.

Some of the things we covered are:
⭐ How human design can be linked to how people approach eating behaviours and body confidence by understanding your individual conditioning and learning your unique decision-making process.
⭐ The importance of recognizing personal preferences in eating, moving, and living rather than following societal norms or influencer trends.
⭐ The primary health system derived in human design charts and how understanding your environment can affect digestion.
⭐ How human design can serve as a deconditioning tool.
⭐ The sacral response and gut instinct, and the importance of asking yes or no questions to elicit a bodily reaction for decision-making.
⭐ Emotional authority in human design, and the importance of emotional awareness in the decision-making process for food choices.
⭐ The importance of sleep and its impact on health, and how your human design can help with that.
⭐ Movement based on the body graph in human design.

    126. Should I watch Fat Friends?

    126. Should I watch Fat Friends?

Let's talk about whether or not you should watch Fat Friends.

With the focus of the Netflix show being based around people who met at and regularly visit a diet club, it is understandable that you might be wary of watching if you're trying to escape dieting yourself.

I'm going to explain how I see Fat Friends through my very own eyes - the funny and satirical, the sympathetic approach to its characters, and how we can relate to the depiction of different foods chosen when on a diet, loss of control around food, and how dieting affects family members' relationship with food.

The show highlights fat shaming in and out of diet clubs, laughs at all the clichéd sayings related to diets, addresses relationships with people when you're in a bigger body, and more. It's sympathetic and designed to make you laugh out loud at dieting.

It's funny, it's sad, it's heart warming, and it's light-hearted. Let me give you a whistlestop tour, and then you can make your own decision on whether to watch it yourself.

    125. Avoiding food waste as an intuitive eater

    125. Avoiding food waste as an intuitive eater

It’s food waste action week. Reducing food waste is a great thing for us all to strive to do, but as someone coming out of dieting and trying to make peace with not having to finish everything on your plate to do this can be quite difficult. It can plunge you straight back into a dieting mentality.
There are many reasons why we might be uneasy about wasting food. Let’s chat about why that might be, and then let’s find ways to reduce food waste without compromising on your intuitive eating habits.

Here's the food sharing app I talk about: Olio
There may be others, but this is the one I have experience in using.

    124. What to do after a binge

    124. What to do after a binge

Bingeing looks different to different people, but whether you are a diagnosed binge eater or have simply had a massive blow out and now feel absolutely terrible for it, those feelings that you are left with after are awful. You can feel guilt, shame, embarrassment, and like you need to undo it all somehow. In this episode I'm going to help you to work through that.

I have some tips to help you understand where your binge eating or overeating may have come from, how to process the thoughts and feelings, and some ideas for what to do after a binge to help you feel physically and emotionally better.

In this episode I talk about my binge restrict pendulum episode too. This might be a great one to listen to next if you haven't heard of it before, and you can find that at episode 97.

    123. When you desperately miss your old self

    123. When you desperately miss your old self

Have you ever had those days when nothing seems to go right?  Well, let me start you off in this episode with with my own mishap involving some highly anticipated chicken nuggets and chips. Let's call it nugget-gate.

Nostalgia's a tricky thing, and in this episode, we're not just reminiscing about the fashion disasters (hello, neon!) but also wading through the deeper waters of body image and identity.

In this episode, host I am delving into the concept of embracing change and letting go of attachment to the past. We'll get deep and consider the very concept of reality. Remember those late-night philosophical debates about life and existence? Well we're on the verge of that today!

Let's look a why sometimes, saying goodbye to our old selves—complete with those bootcut jeans—can open doors to brighter new experiences. It's all about celebrating growth and fulfilment, even if it means letting go of the body and lifestyle we once knew.

Let's explore the idea that the past is not real; what is real is how we have evolved and changed over time. I'm talking about...
The tendency to romanticize the past, whether it's longing for previous body types, lifestyles, or relationships., and the importance of recognising that memories often come with rose-tinted glasses, focusing on the positives while overlooking the negatives. How our past experiences shape who we are today, and why the only genuine reality might just be our ever-evolving selves. Through the lens of body image and self-acceptance, challenging the desire to return to a previous body type, examining what you truly miss about your past seld and whether those desires are rooted in genuine improvement or attachment to the familiar.Surrendering to the flow of life and allowing oneself to evolve without resistance. The importance of self-love and acceptance, urging you to make friends with the current version of yourself.Hopefully this inspires you to move forward with acceptance and appreciation for the journey of personal growth, and allowing you to detach from the past.

So, pull up a chair (and maybe some snacks—just keep them off the floor!), as we get deep into it! Let me know what you think when you're done listening.
