Artist Bio
I am a spirit-led cultural organizer, disruptor, healing justice practitioner, space holder and vision creator. I am a Chicago native with over 15 years of experience in justice-driven arts and community-engaged work that explores and expands racial, gender, and wellness equity. I seek to engage communities through imagination, strategic visioning, and abolitionist cultural praxes. I currently work as Senior Engagement Fellow at the Terra Foundation and am contracted to facilitate transformative spaces within radical political and cultural movement organizations in Chicago and beyond. My biological and chosen tribe are most precious to me. In addition, Kamari, my young child and all my “nibblings” (a gender inclusive term for nieces and nephews) are a constant source of humility, inspiration, and laughter.

As we enter and soon wrap up the fourth quarter of season six, October focuses on the importance of our crown chakra. There’s nothing more important than us understanding why the freedom of connecting to self is always the root to our voices as creatives and entrepreneurs. We have a double feature this month, IPR fam! First, Kendra Renee, southside Chicago native and founder of Be Free Black Girl, talks with host Chelsey Sincerray as they both break down the significance of what it means to be limitless within yourself and what you decide to do in your life. Brittney is a community builder, healer, and facilitator that operates from an abolitionist, trauma-informed, anti-oppression/capitalist lens. Through their decade-long non-profit career, they’ve realized that as long as the same oppressive structures and systems are integrated into our work, we are not actually doing liberation work. They offer a radical, black, trans, queer approach to liberation work concerning the livelihood and sustainability of marginalized communities that are often left out of the larger conversation around community care. As a black, queer, and trans nonbinary person, they understand their very existence is directly tied and deeply connected to everything they do. They hope to continue to find communities and individuals that recognize that we are the experts of our own lived experiences and no one is better able to identify our needs than we are. Systems and institutions can't and won't sustain us, but WE can.
