    The Lost Boys

    The Lost Boys

Cry little sister, love is with your brother.  Today Ashley chats with Sylas and SA Hunt talk about late 80s classic Vampire flick The Lost Boys... But wait, there are no trans people in The Lost Boys... are there?  After Ashley's friend Thom pointed out some interesting choices in set design we took a deep dive into the history of the film, analysis of the plot as it relates to other horror movies of the period, and the queer interpretations of the film that already exist to ask Is It Transphobic?

    Dallas Buyer's Club

    Dallas Buyer's Club

It's been 4 years since we started this Podcast.  Thank you all so much for listening... Now Ashley, V, and Sylas tackle Dallas Buyers Club...  DBC was the reason Ashley started the Podcast, it was an academy award-nominated film with both Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor awards going to its actors...  So was DBC as transphobic as everyone made it out to be or was there more nuance?  Buckle up buckaroos because this is going to be a bumpy ride...

Ashley and AJ talk about Showtime's "Work In Progress."  Both Ashley and AJ gush about how much they enjoy the show for its messy but realistic portrayal of queer relationships and the comedy which doesn't let up!  Check this one out!

The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang

Today Ashley is joined by her good friend Jonathan Alexandratos to talk about The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang!  We highly reccommend you read this graphic novel ahead of time as we will be diving right into spoiler territory but both Ashley and Jonathan found the piece to be incredibly fun and affirming (While acknowledging that there is a forced reveal near the end of the book, just to warn).

Birds of Prey: and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn

Birds of Prey: and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn

Ashley and her good friend Rachel sit down and talk about a movie they love...  BIRDS OF PREY!  "But wait Ashley," I hear you saying, "there were no openly trans/NB characters in BoP!"  Aaaaaand yeah... you're right BUT looking at media from a TGNC lens isn't just about analyzing TGNC media! No YOU just wanted an excuse to talk about a movie with badass, complicated, and interesting women that is simultaneously well put together and fun as hell!

Love this pod!

Discovered this podcast today and I’ve been bingeing it and I love it! As a trans enby person who is also a cinephile I have a lot of thoughts and feelings ab Transness in the media, and I actively watch and enjoy media that is also transphobic, and it’s a complicated thing to deal with when a lot of your representation is detrimental to your identity, and this podcast is great bc I get to listen to the ruminations of other trans and enby folx is really awesome (especially since many of my trans friends are not participating into cinema lol). 10/10 would recommend to every who enjoys cinema and television etc!

Wow this is so eye opening

So I’m also trans and there’s a lot of stuff in movies and t.v. I saw a long time ago and didn’t catch. Keep up the great work!

Highly recommended

Great show with a great perspective. Sincerely appreciate how they are able to separate enjoying media while acknowledging the problematic elements. Quite often provides me with new understandings of things often taken for granted.
