Bassing Gal Barbara Harris on Her Way to Fish in the LBAA Lake Hartwell Tournament!

Bassing Gal Barbara Harris on Her Way to Fish in the LBAA Lake Hartwell Tournament!

I got to catch up with woman angler & adventurer Bassing Gal Barbara Harris as she was making her way down to Lake Hartwell in Georgia to fish in her 1st Lady Bass Anglers Association tournament of 2020! Barbara has been a huge supporter of this show so it was a real treat to have her on. She was instrumental in helping us win the 2019 Outdoor Media Summit Best Outdoor Podcast fan-voted award. She's a super passionate bass tournament angler and has a lot knowledge when it comes to chasing these sometimes excessively finicky eaters. Sit back and enjoy our conversation and then head on over to YouTube and subscribe to Barbara's channel!

Kate Field on 250 Days of Fishing in One Year and More!

Kate Field on 250 Days of Fishing in One Year and More!

Don't you love it when everything just comes together? I found myself in a jam recently when I suddenly realized I didn't have any more episodes in the can for the next show. I've got an extensive list of possible guests that is ever-growing. So, I pulled it up and started going through it. Kate Field immediately popped out to me. I remembered seeing on Facebook that she recently had a birthday AND she met her goal of fishing 250 days in a year. Perfect!
So I sent her a message, knowing she's incredibly busy with working full time, traveling to kayak fishing tournaments, and not to mention producing all those awesome videos for her YouTube Channel. I thought it was worth a shot anyway. I asked if she happened to have any time available the next day for a phone interview.
As it turns out, Kate was going to be driving from Ohio making her way to Texas the next day and she just so happened to be driving through Nashville! Say what?! So of course I invited her to swing by the houseboat. We set up a taco bar for dinner and then retired to the pontoon to have our conversation.
I was happy to hear that Kate is again challenging herself to another year of 250 days of fishing due to the success of the past year and I was honored to help her log day 2 of 250 on Percy Priest!
We had a blast and I think you will to by listening to this episode. Enjoy!

    The Wild World of Taxidermy

    The Wild World of Taxidermy

If you've ever wondered what goes into creating those beautiful lifelike mounts of your trophy whitetail deer or fish, this episode is for you! Meet Josette Robison, owner of Trails End Taxidermy in Keosauqua, Iowa.
Josette is an avid outdoors-woman and her love of hunting and fishing is what led her down the road to becoming a taxidermist. She went to school in Janesville, WI and then dug in!
It's amazing how many skills one needs to have in order to be a good taxidermist. It's definitely an art form. You need to be able to do everything from airbrushing, sewing, pottery, carpentry, and more! Oh- and then there's people skills. A lot of care and attention to detail must go into creating a beautiful mount of someone's trophy kill.
Listen in to this week's episode with Josette and enjoy!

    Throwback to Wildcast!

    Throwback to Wildcast!

It's always fun getting a chance to be featured on other podcasts. Last July I had a fun opportunity to be a guest on the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency's show called Wildcast. It's a TV show as well as an audio podcast. What was so fun about it was I had them come out to the lake and film right on my Qwest Pontoon! I thought it would be fun to share it with you all here on The Woman Angler & Adventurer podcast!
They appropriately titled the episode "On a Pontoon."
This week the Woman Angler and Adventurer, Angie Scott, invites us aboard her new Qwest pontoon. We will learn about her Podcast “The Woman Angler and Adventurer, her experiences as the only female on Team Nashville Bassmasters and chat about the growing number of women getting outside to fish and hunt. Angie has a strong passion to share her love of the outdoors and introduce more women to the sport of fishing. Check out her website at https://thewomanangler.com and make sure to tune into her show, “The Women Angler & Adventurer Podcast”, on iTunes and other podcasting platforms. #tnwildlife #itswhatwedo

EP. 139 Brittany Howard from Alabama Shakes on Fishing

EP. 139 Brittany Howard from Alabama Shakes on Fishing

This week I'm speaking with Grammy Award Winning musician Brittany Howard! Brittany is the lead singer, guitarist and main songwriter for the band Alabama Shakes. Most recently, she released her debut solo album called "Jamie." With her European tour being postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Brittany's been hanging out in Nashville, TN and I was able to get a few minutes to chat with her about one of her other big passions...and that's fishing!
She grew up fishing with her dad down in Alabama and she's carried that passion with her into adulthood. After trying to land trout on Marrowbone Lake outside of Nashville, Brittany was inspired to take up fly fishing. So she booked a lesson with local Fly Fishing instructor, Susan Thrasher. (You may remember Susan from Episode 136.) She fell in love with the fly cast...she does it all!
When on tour, Brittany jumps at the opportunity to find some local water and fish during downtime. She's been on lots of great fishing adventures over the years and has even inspired some other fellow musicians to get into the sport.
I know you're really going to enjoy our conversation!

Empowering the next generation.

This is my first podcast I listened too from here, and I guarantee it won’t be my last. What a great segment. This girl is making waves where no one has gone before. She is tapping into an area where most people don’t want to go. People with disabilities, and I love it. My son has autism so when that mom cried, I could relate. It’s the small things we celebrate as parents with kids with disabilities. Love her ideas and where she is taking this. Thanks to all her sponsors who made this possible. I will be sure to buy and promote your products.

Women Anglers and Adventurer

I am writing my first review ever. I absolutely love your podcast stories and the different themes. Congratulations on all the 1st place awards that you received this evening from the AGLOW awards. You deserve every one of them. It is hard for me to pick my favorites but I will tell you that I loved your “Fish Camp” episode and the “Averie Rose” episode. I can only see better things in your future.Thank you for inspiring me.
