    Parenting Your Inner Child

We all know that trauma and difficulties that we face during childhood and teenage years can affect us throughout our life. The good news is that we have solutions for reconciliation and healing. In this episode, I am joined by Lavinia Brown, as we discuss Inner Child work as a tool to deal with past trauma and parent our inner child in a way that helps us move forward.
Lavinia Brown is a Psychodynamic Coach for Mums and an Inner Child-Healing Expert. She supports mothers to understand how their past is affecting their present and to heal their unconscious, childhood wounds so that they no longer feel guilty, anxious or angry and can become the mamas, partners and women that they choose to be.

    Childless and Fulfilled Life

    Childless and Fulfilled Life

This episode is, in a way, a part two of episode 12. Last time we looked at what it means to be childfree and how such a decision can be carried throughout life without any guilt. In this episode, I am joined by Jody Day, as we discuss being childless. We talk about the differences, the common misconceptions, understanding childless people better, communicating with them and knowing that in the end it’s not about ‘us’ and ‘them’, but about all of us together.
Jody Day is the founder of Gateway Women, the global friendship and support network for childless women, with the social reach of 2 million, founded in 2011. She is an author, a speaker, a global though leader on female involuntary childlessness, an integrative psychotherapist, a TedX speaker, a social entrepreneur and much more.
You can find Jody @gatewaywomen and you can visit her website https://gateway-women.com/

    Childfree and Guilt-Free

    Childfree and Guilt-Free

There’s a lot of stigma around women deciding to not have children and it’s a pity that society still can’t get out of this mentality. My guest today is a pioneer and advocate for women who decide to take that path and she reassures women that this choice is valid, correct and should be guilt-free.
Marcia Drut-Davis came into the spotlight when she appeared on a “60 minutes” interview in 1974, where she talked about how she had decided to not have or raise children. The interview sparked controversy that cost Marcia her teaching job of ten years, but ultimately fuelled her drive to open a dialogue and the minds of people towards childfree life. Marcia was 6 when she first thought about being childfree for the rest of her life. She wrote her memoir “Confessions of a Childless Woman”, where she looks back and shares what led her to make that choice and if looking back she has any regrets. She has and continues to live a wonderfully rich life, without raising any children of her own, and offers her resources to people who want to live the same way.

Like listening to your best self

Listening to Doryn has been like listening to the ME I needed to hear. Hearing her tell me to give myself permission is like hearing myself coaching me back to the person I know I am. Being 43 and going through so many changes in my life - kids moving out, moving, losing my father, perimenopause and and mental health challenge…and a pandemic - I was searching for support anywhere I could find it to navigate all of *this* and I was blessed to stumble onto Doryn’s podcast. It was her podcast on “Normalizing Grief” that I stumbled onto first while searching for a podcast about grieving. I saw she also had an episode on ADHD (and yes, check that off too for me) and I had to hear that too. That was it - I have been listening to every episode - and even those I didn’t feel I would connect to because the subject didn’t apply to me, even those I found I related to and felt seen in - which is a beautiful metaphor for all of us women if I think about it. Because that’s exactly what Doryn’s podcast does - it helps us feel we can relate to one another and feel seen. Thank you, Doryn!

Awesome Content!

I just listened to your last episode (Skin Care Psychology) for the first time. I actually learned about some great things to do, but the best advice I heard was learning to love yourself within and the outer part of you will follow. Thank you for getting this great content out there and now off to binge the rest of your podcast!
