Best Pokemon Podcast There Is!!
I stumbled upon this podcast when I got back into playing Pokemon again with X/Y & ORAS. What makes It's Super Effective stand out from all the other podcasts is how inclusive & welcoming SBJ, Will & Greg are...even when theyre being dry & highly sarcastic LOL. They're knowledgable & keep it fun but very entertaining. I highly recommend this podcast & to go join their Patreon because the community is honestly THE best part of playing Pokemon. Keep it up, guys!!!
Hello! You guys are awesome I love listening to you and your fun antics. Thank you so much.
Not much substance
I want to start by saying that I appreciate how the hosts are in the more rational camp of Pokémon fans. There’s a lot of unreasonable fans out there and these guys aren’t it.
Unfortunately I had to drop the podcast because I felt there wasn’t enough substance. Most episodes boil down to 50% SBJ reading press releases and 50% Pokémon GO/Masters discussion. The press releases add no value whatsoever and are stuff you are already aware of if you’re a big enough fan to seek out a podcast. The mobile games, while sometimes the only Pokémon games to consistently receive updates, are a small portion of the franchise and get the lion’s share of attention.
The TCG is a HUGE part of the brand and yet it never gets talked about (unless reading off a press release). The anime is also a sizeable portion of the franchise and it is completely ignored.
