In this episode of HOLD MY DVD, we will talk about The Prestige (2006). I'm joined by Sachin; a Finance professional, a movie enthusiast, and a long-time friend.

The Prestige is a psychological thriller directed by Christopher Nolan, starring Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale in leading roles. The movie follows the story of rival stage magicians, Robert Angier and Alfred Borden, in Victorian London who feuds over a perfect teleportation trick.

The film grossed over $109 million worldwide against a production budget of $40 million. It received Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography and is considered by many to be the best work by Christopher Nolan.

In this episode of HOLD MY DVD, we're going to talk about Premam (2015). I'm joined by Harshita, who is a Product Manager, an admirer of movies, and a dear friend.

Premam (translates to Love ) is a 2015 Indian Malayalam-language coming-of-age romance film written, directed, and edited by Alphonse Puthren. 

The plot follows George (Nivin Pauly) and his friends from their teens to adulthood, in his search for love. His romantic journey takes him through several stages, helping him find his purpose.

The movie was an industry hit and eventually attained cult status.

In this episode of HOLD MY DVD, we're going to talk about Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022). I'm joined by Amisha (@madebyamisha), who is an artist, writer, and host of the Here Goes Everything Podcast (@heregoeseverythingpod).

Everything Everywhere All At Once is a genre-bending sci-fi, comedy, and family drama written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (collectively known as Daniels). The cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, Jenny Slate, Harry Shum Jr., James Hong, and Jamie Lee Curtis. 

The New York Times called the film a "swirl of genre anarchy" with elements of surreal comedy, science fiction, fantasy, martial arts films, and animation. The film has received near-universal acclaim for its portrayal of philosophical concepts such as existentialism, nihilism, and absurdism, as well as other themes including generational trauma, ADHD, and Asian-American identity.

Normal People is a romantic psychological drama limited series, based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Sally Rooney. The series follows the relationship between Marianne Sheridan (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Connell Waldron (Paul Mescal), as they navigate adulthood from their final days in secondary school to their undergraduate years at Trinity College.

The series has received critical acclaim, with praise for the performances, directing, writing, aesthetics, and its portrayal of mature content.
